I'm looking for a quality one person tent, does anyone have any suggestions on what brand would be the best to go with?

I may have a 1 person tent for sale if your interested? Its hike lite 1 person tent that Argos sold a few years ago. Its very similar to the tiger paws tent.
It's in orange and only used once which was Monday. I bought it ages ago and forgot all about it.
Cheers

I currently have a Vango Banshee 200 that is not a bad tent but is a bit restrictive on space. If you look here (http://www.naturalbushcraft.co.uk/forum/forumdisplay.php?54-Sleeping) you will find several threads with recommendations and reviews including the Banshee. If I were to buy again I would probably go for one of these. (http://www.backpackinglight.co.uk/product578.asp?PageID=1)

If you are on a budget you can get one of these from £29.99
Gelert Solo One Man Tent (http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00322QRQE/ref=asc_df_B00322QRQE9065219?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&tag=googlecouk06-21&linkCode=asn&creative=22206&creativeASIN=B00322QRQE)
5207
It is tiny, but if you are are planing on walking/camping/walking (as I did a lot last year) it is the business.

The Banshee is a cracking tent, cramped two man, but comfortable one man.
The Gelert Mongoose is a slightly bigger tent in the same style as the Banshee, but is a fair bit cheaper. It is heavier and the HH is a lot lower though.

Or if you have a few bob to spend, the Terra Nova Laser is highly thought of.

It really is a case of where do you intend to camp (somewhere sheltered where you can get away with a lower HH or somewhere exposed where quality will count), how often and on what budget.

Like Jus says there are plenty of threads on here with recommendations, I hope you find one that helps you out.

Atb,

Colin

Don't go for a one man tent. They are too small and save weight by being so small. Buy a quality two man tent such as the Hilleberg Akto, or one of the ultra light Terra Nova tents which are larger but often lighter due to the use of superior quality materials.

This topic has come up on here a few times and opinion is normally divided between weight and cost. Light weight always means high cost but, in my opinion, it's well worth the extra money if you can afford it.

I have a Terra Nova Laser, which is not a current model, but at just over 1kg it's fantastic to carry and is just big enough for two very friendly people or very spacious for one.

Hope this helps

Vango Vitesse (http://www.sportswarehouse.co.uk/products/Vango-Force-Ten-Vitesse-200-Tent.html) gets my recommendation.

Pro's:

Light
Sturdy
Easy to put up
Quick to put up
Simple design = simple repairs

Cons

Condensation can get problematic after about 3 days on a trail
One time I was having a nightmare and kicked one of the poles over

I have one of the Gelert Solo's mentioned above, its a great tent, packs very small, goes up nice and easy (slide 2 tiny poles thru inner tent, peg, throw over fly sheet, tie onto poles, peg - I did it in 2 minutes in pitch black night time last time I went camping), but like Martin says, they are very limited -
you can't sit up in it,
the door way area is too small to cook in if you could get yourself into a position to do so,
you get wet knees/bum trying to wiggle out the doorway gap
they are very draughty because the fly sits a few centimetres off the ground, and the inner tent is pretty much a bucket ground sheet with a mesh top
do not use them in winter (I did, i had ice on the inside and snow on the outside)
make sure you have a right handed zip sleeping bag...

Edit: If you consider the downsides, my opening comment of its a great tent looks a bit stupid. I should say "it's a great tent for me"... I generally solo camp at decent campsites, and am busy during days times, so don't 'live' in my tent much. My criteria for a tent is one that packs small and is very lightweight, pitches very easily on your own (and I often need to do so in the dark/rain)

Ha, that sounds exactly like the problems with the Banshee, even though its a little bigger than the Solo. Still a good tent and I was willing to make compromises for size and weight but there are definately better options out there.
