Any of the proper climbing type ones will do. Just don't use the kit clip type

As my hammock came from DD, I just did the easiest thing and bought the ones that DD sell on their site. I have recently bought some of these, don't know why but they were on offer and I thought they may come in useful at some point. They are suitable for swinging from.

I got some really light weight ones from needlesports.com about £5 each but plenty strong enough. They are about 35g each

At least you know ahead of time, I've used the 4" accessory clip types in the past, only to find the gate and spring pops out after a few sit downs..... lol, but you can also look at the much cheaper steel types used to link chains together, usually only a few bucks each but are designed for heavy loads.

I have a set of carabiners you can have for free pal.

They are fall arrest carabiners so are ridiculously strong.

PM me your address and I'll post them to you.

They are rated at 22kn, which if my maths is any good, equates to approx 5000lbs of force.

So perfectly fine for hammocking.

Did you ever use the carabiners for your hammock mate?

Would love to see how it worked out for you. I still favour the whoopie slings personally.

Another option I have found are soft shackles.
They work the same as biners but are made of amsteel so ultra lightweight.

I use climbing krabs think my current ones are alloy 25Kn. loop of amsteel through the hammock, to a krab, to 240 cm climbing slings as tree huggers. If the sling is too long i just bung a fig 8 in it or an alpine butterfly

I see you have had a generous offer of a couple of carabiners and they will be perfect, just to say that I use soft shackles that I made from dyneema (amsteel), as the name suggests they are soft and ultra light weight, good luck and keep hanging

Knew the ones I bought would come in handy, fitted them the the boys hammock last night so he can hang his hammock up as soon as he opens it up on Christmas Day :)

they work better than great,i think the main factor is the confidence they wont fail.
