Not 100% sure at all, but could be wild parsnip.

Going to state the obvious here but that really looks like a parsnip (but I'm crap at plant ID so don't take my word for it!)

I thought it looked similar but the tops of the leaves are rounded not pointy, suppose we will try a little bit with caution and save the rest for the coroner

Can you get any more pics of other plants the same growing in your area..?
Root looks parsnip (good one for wild too) but the leaves do not look like carrot family to me. They look more like cabbage family, but not easy to tell in that pic.
If it is parsnip, it will smell like parsnip, so try breaking the root or stems. On flowing plants you will see yellow umbels.
Some info on the shape of the stem would be helpful too

when cutting it from the texture and the smell, it was clear I had an imposter

Hmmmmmm...looks to me like a type of Wild Lettuce. I wonder what the flower colour is (or was)...
