I think the adage " getting out the right side of the bed " is quite apt at this camp site. Picture 1, the trees top dead centre - that's the camp site!, picture,s 2 & 3 shows how steep the ground was hence the adage picture 4 the stunning views towards the horseshoe pass & picture 5 a sunset well worth waiting for. The reason for choosing this place ? Buzzard's & possibly a Peregrine Falcon, I spent a good 4-5 hours watching a pair of buzzard's soar overhead with several ravens joining, in it's hard to believe that a raven is the larger of the two. Thursday night's sunset was as some would say ansum, and when darkness finally fell I was treated to a shower of shooting stars. About 2am Friday morning the wind picked up
and it really chilled me to the bone - even in my Czech army bedroll, I now know why you need a underquilt. So when the sun came up over the hill and warmed me I chose to doze for an hour or 2 until my bladder needed to be emptied.
After breakfast I packed everything away and returned to my bird watching spot for a few hours, the wife (bless her ) phoned to say she was on her way so I ambled down to the road and waited to be picked up, we then spent an hour in the ponderosa cafe drinking coffee and eating cake "as you do" and returned home around 3pm Friday afternoon.
Apart from the cold spell it was "A grand night out gromit" even though I didn't get to see a Peregrine.
Cheers Bri
