hi all,
i would like to get my friend, an explorer scout, a knife for his birthday. it has to be under £30, suitable for around camp activities like making kindling, feathersticking, getting sparks off a firsteel, cutting rope and branches for shelters, and be fairly astheatically pleasing too. it dosent need to be a big blade, nothing over 3 3/4" really. any ideas?

Can't go wrong with one of the Swedish Mora knives in my book.

Check out Casstromms, They have a couple of knives for under 30 quid.
You could get him a knife making kit?
I would check out this eBay store; http://stores.ebay.com/NORDICA-HEAT and get him a more personal knife than "just" a Mora.
These four are below £30 and much more interesting than the common Mora:

Moras are great value for money, but nothing beats owning a real handmade puukko

I don't believe so. I think that you will be given a 'we do not wish to circumvent ebay.co.uk rules about knives blurb...' Petty really, as this means UK suppliers can add a little extra on top. Greenman Bushcraft seem to be ok-ish, but still a lot more expensive than seen on ebay.

Probably the best option. You never know, he might end up buying three Moras! ;)

lol yeah. i've tried to ween him off the cheapo rubbishy steel cool looking lock knives he used and onto better quality knives.
