My name is Ian, I have decided to have a go at Bushcraft as I am a Fly Fisherman and spend most of my fishing in the wilderness streams of welsh mountains or Dartmoor. I have found this site extremly helpful so decided to join in. I have made my first Char-cloth and para bracelet which my daughter nicked lol. Didn't know dad's could be trendy :D.

Regards
Ian

Hi Ian, I'm a relative newbie to bushcrafting, I have been "hands-on and learning" for a year now and I am also a keen wild trout fly fisherman having fished mainly streams and small rivers in Wales... welcome to the forum, you'll get a lot of great advice here...

I had a para bracelet back when we used to call them hippie leather bracelets in the 70's... I used to have hair as well back then...!

Paul.

HI Paul,
I drive 3hrs each way to fish the Wye Usk Foundation Waters and a stretch of the Usk just outside Abergaveny. Its to expensive here to river fish for trout. Maybe we could meet up and fish. Do you tie your own flies? Its one of the things i enjoy doing.

Hi Ian,

I live in Gwent, Abergaveny is about 30 minutes from me.

I fished Wye & Usk Foundation water in Powys from Llandrindod Wells to Builth Wells for 4 years and then fished the Sirhowy river in Gwent last year but that was hard work because water levels were so low.

I did tie my own flies for a few years and i've still got my vice & some materials but these days I tend to buy them due to too many calls on my time.

I'd be happy to meet up for some fishing, let's hook up when the season opens and arrange an outing.

Cheers, Paul

I would be glad to give anyone advice on coarse or fly fishing. I may even tie them a few flies to help them catch..
