View Full Version : Macrolepiota rhacodes var bohemica?

I am wondering if these are as the title says, or just standard Shaggy Parasols. I actually thought they were just normal parasols at first til i noticed the smooth stem. These seem to grow slightly lower to the ground than Shaggy Parasols usually do and also look less 'shaggy'. They were growing under a small strip of well spaced pines on what is otherwise a cow field. Fairly crap pic (wasn't expecting to use it for ID purposes) but can take better ones if necessary. These also have much thinner rings. More like on amanitas.

Nope, just plain old M. rhacodes. I have seen enough of this species in the last two weeks to last me for the next ten years.

Interestingly One of the unopened mushrooms opened up while it was in the fridge over night!

the ones I found yesterday had maggots, plenty of decievers for a purple salad tomorrow

'purple salad' - I like the sound of that. Not tried any yet myself. Maybe i should before there is none left.
