hello,
I thought this might interest NBC forum members. 'Supermarket Brand' have in
stock Pet Smart large blocks of compact packed fine wood shavings for 69p.
The block is a tightly packed bale of wood shavings for small animals cages,
far cheaper than a purchase from the pet store branded names.
Anyway, I bought one of these large blocks a whileback which would be more than
ample to fill a great number of tobacco tinswith tinder, pending use lasts up to a
year or more.
The shavings do light first time as they're dry being tight packed & cellophane
wrapped into this bale or brick. I could suggest as done previous, amounts were
smoked a little more as you would in the processing making of 'char cloth' which
being slightly darkended & charred ignites quicker or another amount was soaked
in turps then dried stored in the shed due to additive for fire safety ignites even
quicker as you can imagine.
As suggested 69p a fraction of the costs, which is very little to pay for in comparison
to these commercial tins of fire lighting dust if you think about it.
Same goes for these bundles of kindling sticks, these can be processed as you would
a fire stick/feather stick, shavings, wood chips etc.. tinder dry ready to pack into your
kit or tinder tin saves looking around for fire starting material when setting up camp in
this weather we are experiencing just now & for under a £1.00 to boot.
Regards
David
Ps.Edited as I included the store brand name :ashamed: Oops!
