Anybody know of any shops or sites online, that sell cheap but decent hammocks and tarps?

ddhammocks r pretty cheap as is the aforementioned tenth wonder! Otherwise cheap poly tarp and 4 metres of ripstop from fleabay and whip the ends!

what dd would you recommend ive never used a hammock before or set one up.

I don't actually own one but the frontline is breathable so I would go for that, although you would be fine with a hammock without a bug net until late next spring. Tenth Wonder have a better range of hammocks without nets and are a little cheaper although obv i cant comment on quality of either although plenty folks on here can.
I made my own hammock and had never done any diy gear before, it was surprisingly easy and actually quite fun, materials cost me about £15 max. :cool:

Decathlon do a tarp for about £24 (comes with poles for use without trees) and I got an amazonas hammock for about the same price, although would look for a breathable one if you plan to use it through summer. 5738

If you want one with a net, snugpak make one as well that is a little cheaper than the dd and tenth wonder. £35ish I think.

£26 including net - only downside is not breathable, other than that its top notch
