Twas a lovely afternoon here,a chill in the air as well as the smell of woodsmoke from the fire lit early in the front room, determined not to waste a day we grabbed our already packed packs and headed off to the woods for the day, jack was at his mates house and bens pal Connor was sleeping over as usual on the weekends,we headed to a fave place not more than 4 miles away ,before we knew it we were int woods ,it smelled great with the newly laid forest floor damp ,after a short walk we were at our chosen spot in the ancient forest of Selwood and whilst mrs fish and I set up out kit the kids played on a rope swing.

i have tried a prussic knot for hanging my underquilt from, seems to hold it up a bit better, but i still need to make a new one.

Before long Ben was lighting his new hobo stove that he made yesterday and started cooking on it:

then it was time for a nap nice and warm in the afternoon sunshine with charlie:

as the sun sank lower in the autumn sky it was time to pack up and head for home, the light was wonderful as the air temperature dropped:

on the way home I managed to bag a nice bit of game for tea as we passed through land i have permission to hunt on:

We were soon home again and 4 little people sat in front of a soon roaring fire to warm feet and hands with a cocoa to sup. All in all a nice afternoons activity in my favorite season.

Looks like a nice place to relax (hang) and its good to see that Ben got to fire up his home made hobo and cook on it, shame you did not get the pheasent on the way in so ben could have cooked that as well.
