Hi there Anthony

Woodland Valley Farm in Laddock is a great place to camp. The boy and I have stayed there a few times and really enjoyed it. Chris Jones the owner is a nice guy who just leaves you to it. Its a fiver a night and he lets you shoot, trap and fish and fires are allowed.

Its a working farm so you don't see much of him. Water is available by tap and there are composting and long drop toilets dotted around the place.

Hope this helps.

Cheers Neil

Here you go mate.

http://www.woodlandvalley.co.uk/_contact_findus.php

I will be trying out my Hammock early in the new year over there. Give me a shout if you fancy some company. I'm only in Camborne and have an estate so packing the gear in is no problem.

Cheers Neil

EDIT Make sure you mention the forum when speaking to Chris.

Is there room for 1 more or is three a crowd. I live in Devon but come from southampton i would go out to the new forest and camp out there. I have lived in devon now for 15 years and do a lot of camping on dart moor. But I do miss the woods.

Hi there Jonni and welcome to the forum mate.

I'm always up for a camp, but have to give the missus notice due to work and the kids though. Woodland Valley is a nice place to set up camp and spend a day or so out in the woods. I haven't used my hammock yet as its a Christmas pressy and not allowed it until the 25th !!. If I get a night or so in the woods in the next few weeks it will have to be in one of my ever expanding collection of tents.

Make yourself known on the intro part of the forum mate, there are plenty of like minded guys and gals on the site.

Cheers Neil

So are we going to set a date. I work 4 on 4 off. But can use some holiday if. Needs be

Chubbs
08-12-2012, 01:12 PM
I'm up for it but not until after the festivities due to kids holidays and work commitments. I can't have the hammock until Christmas and I haven't yet bought a tarp. I was looking at one of these tarps with removable doors.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2FkzzpRvms

They have none left until mid January as they are made in Vietnam but I have contacted TW and they are confident they will arrive.

I do have a tent I could use in the meantime though.

Cheers Neil

Now that's a nice tarp. Looks like a tent filled with helium. Should be nice and cosy under there.

Due to pre xmas commitments I'd have to vote for early new year too.

I saw this hammock with doors a while back and it does look rather cool, I did try getting one a couple of times, but each time they had sold out.

So one of the many projects I have on the drawing board is cutting up one of the spare bashas I have and making some doors of my own. Might be done by the new year, might not.

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts if you do get one.

Sumtime after xmas would be best for me too as I aint got alot of kit yet! :)

11-12-2012, 11:24 PM
Depending on when you set this up I may well be tempted to join you if I may, Woodlands is a nice place to hang for a couple of days. I do have quite a few commitments with Scouts in Jan so I will keep my eye on this one and see if it fits in.

Chubbs
12-12-2012, 12:46 AM
Woodlands is a great place for anybody's first camp/hang out. It was the first place my boy and I went to not so long ago. Like I said, I am definitely up for it early new year and if anybody is short for a tent, don't buy one, I have three or four in the loft as well as extra sleeping bags and cooking equipment.

I also have an estate car and small trailer, so picking people up with their kit in the area is ok by me as long as we share nominal petrol costs.

It sound like it could turn out to be a good evening or couple of days. Maybe I could sort out a camp stew and dumplings while we are at it.

What do you think guys.

EDIT I have just read your post again Jus. We will arrange it to suit all of us if nobody else minds.

12-12-2012, 04:03 AM

jonni_uk
13-12-2012, 06:43 PM

So do we have to book or just turn up?

Big T
23-12-2012, 04:12 PM
Not sure mate, I will drop them an email and find out!

Chubbs
23-12-2012, 04:53 PM
I think to best thing to do is get some numbers together and I will give him a ring a couple of days beforehand. Once booked we can all meet in the carpark at a set time and go from there. Its a good place for a camp and it will be great to meet you all. I have asked the missus again if she is working that day, but she still doesn't know. I should be able to sort it though.

As long as you phone him a day or so in advance, he is happy with that.

jonni_uk
23-12-2012, 06:37 PM
That good Chubbs I will defiantly be there and am looking forward to meet up with you all.

29-12-2012, 10:30 PM
Gd lad! Im thinking of getting there bout 2ish and settin me tent up while its still light! Anyone got any plans or want to do anything specific? I was thinking of bringing my crossbow and air rifle and maybe doing a bit of target shooting......?

Oh and the odd sneeky cider around the campfire................;)

Chubbs
30-12-2012, 10:10 PM
My boy and me are coming but like Big T, won't be there until the afternoon due to the wife working.

If everybody PMs me to confirm they are coming I will phone him Wednesday with more accurate numbers. I have an estate car so if anybody is stuck for a lift in the Camborne/Redruth area I can offer transport if they would chip in a couple of quid for the fuel.

Its a fiver for the night and he will let you hunt, shoot and fish with permission. I think it will be better to pay him on the Sunday when we are all there but I will confirm this also.

Cheers Neil

EDIT: Just had a thought. We need to pick a place where we are going to set up camp seeing as though we will be there at different times or we could all meet up in the carpark at a certain time in the afternoon.

What do you all think.

Big T
30-12-2012, 11:08 PM

I will get there about 2pm as well. What car park are we talking about? Is it the pub or the farm? Does anyone know a post code for the sat nav?

Big T
02-01-2013, 06:10 PM
Hi Jonni,

I think chubbs is talking about the carpark at the campsite, the postcode is TR2 4PT according to their website.

So is it just me, you and chubbs? Any other takers??

I'd love to pop up from St Ives and join you, but I'm recovering from an injury and battling several ailments at the moment, so sadly I'm going no where.

I hope you all have a grand time, so good a time that you decide to do it again, later in the year when I can pop along.

Ansum :D When not laid up, I work shifts too and it they usually include the weekends (as the money is a little better). Maybe a weekday meet could be arranged at some point in the future, for those of us with erratic or just plain anti social work patterns?

Anyway, you fellas have a grand time this week and I'm looking forward to any write ups and pics.

All sorted now, its on :jumping-joy:

Mr Jones was in a conference when I called earlier but I explained to his wife that we would be arriving at different times so it would be better to pay them if we see them on the farm later in the day or Sunday morning.

Would it be a better idea if we all met in the carpark at 2.00pm.

Really sorry guys at this late stage but I can't make it. I had everything ready, even went to Tesco last night and bought Spam, marshmallows for the boy and some beer.

My leg is knacked again, I have been up since four pacing the bedroom in agony with sciatica. I have had this bout a few days but I thought I could throw it off. The worse thing about it is how dissapointed Brad is now that we are not going.

I don't like letting people down but to be honest, if I did come, by the time Sunday morning comes, I would be a lot worse and there would be nobody to take the kids to school on Monday as the missus works.

Enjoy your time there guys and take plenty of pics.

Sorry again, Neil

I'm gutted mate. Everything was ready to go in the car, the boy is not in the best mood now and no doubt I will get a 'told you so' from the missus. I'm on 200mg of morphine a day and its obvious that its not working. Back to the docs for a referral to Derriford for an operation I think.

We will have to organise another meet in the very near future as well.

Sorry to hear you're in a world of pain Neil, I know where you are coming from and feel for you.

Rotten timing, but these things can not be helped.

I've also had to pass, not because of work for once as I actually managed to wangle the time off work, but because I knackered my knee and shoulder after unintentionally rolling down a rock face, not something I would recommend if you enjoy sleeping (and as the world of pain I'm currently holidaying in is the kind that just keeps giving, I also got to enjoy the Norovirus before Xmas and am now have the pleasure of hosting a particularly throaty chest infection, sound) which has been prodded, poked and scanned, but still seems to baffle most medical professionals.

You've got to laugh... or at least that is what people who are not in CONSTANT PAIN tell me.

On the plus side, there are now two of us who have had to pass due to injury/ailment, so I reckon another meet should definitely be on the horizon.

Get well soon fella.

And, those of you that are still going, do have a grand time.

Atb,

Colin
