Hi folks

I had a camp out the other night with Danny Reid and Freedom Phil which despite being bloomin freezing was great to just be able to sit around the camp fire and chat.

Here is a video I did of an idea I had about a cheap tinder material for use with either flint and steel or firesteel.

Hope that you like it.

It was blooming freezing Ade but proper layers and a good fire kept some of the cold at bay! Looking forward to a brew round the fire with you guys again soon! P.s the videos great and in these conditions we need all the help we can get to get a fire started!! 🔥

Top stuff. I've heard that stuff mentioned before, but never seen anyone use it, or even tried it myself. Will have to go and get some now lol.

Thanks for all the positive feedback folks. I've also tried this coir stuff with a fero rod and it worked a treat too.

Now all I have to do is think of something else clever for the next video

Cheers buddy. It still amazes me that despite "bushcraft" being 10,000+ years old, we can still discover clever new stuff all the time.

Thanks Jack, its very kind of you to say so.
Flint, steel and char cloth is my absolute favourite method of fire lighting and I seem to have got the knack just right.

All I need to do know is to learn how NOT to carry so much junk with me every timeout I go out!! Lol.

You're not wrong there. I'm always amazed at new takes on ancient techniques, and also the ancient ways of doing fairly new things too. Kind of like a 50,000 year mix 'n' match lol
