Hi all,

Does anyone know of any decent army surplus stores in Cornwall? I want to get hold of a trangia and some other bits n bobs and would rather buy from a shop than mess around with postage etc off the internet.

Cheers,

Anthony.

Without coming across as sarcastic Big T, but Cornwall is not a small place so I would really just go with the closest if you are planning to visit in person. Price wise they are all pretty similar or just look online to get an idea of the prices.

Thanks for your words of wisdom. Your right, it is not a small place but there are lots of markets and small outlets etc that might have army surplus shops that I might not have heard of, seeing as there are a few people on here from cornwall I thought i would ask the question. Without coming across as sarcastic you are from Devon so are probably unable to help! Sorry for any confusion.................

Nope, not a clue near Helston. The best army surplus store in Cornwall is actually in Devon. Endicotts in Exeter.

The link that Jus-Young provided is the only place that I know of in this part of the area. He has some good deals every now and then as well. It is based in Camborne right at the very end of the main street, near Tesco. I was in there last week or a little earlier and picked up some used wool boot socks for a quid.

Bogey Knight's is good if you are ever in Plymouth, I never realised I needed a Parvane as a garden ornament until I went there :happy-clapping: [LINKY (http://home.btconnect.com/knightsurplus/mfindusins.html)

I've bought a few bits from Endicotts http://www.endicotts.co.uk (http://www.endicotts.co.uk/) on Martin's recommendation.
I think they're great. I bought a pair of luftwaffe gloves each, for both my wife and I which are fantastic and they were a very good grade 1 and turned up quickly (I'm in Kent). Still, it's no alternative to getting hands-on in-store though.

Nice one Markus.

Its smaller places like these that need the exposure. It keep them open and they are usually a good place to chat with other likeminder customers and the owner.

Cheers Neil

If it's a Swedish army Trangia you are after it may pay to swop the actual burner over to a civvy job.The military burner is a lot bigger and doesn't get up to heat as well as the smaller civvy job in my experience.
