I found what I thought were alexanders growing along the roadside near a village close to home, but its not near the coast, they also had an unusually distinct smell which I can't describe, but as with most umbilifers I tend to give them a wide birth just incase I've mis-identified them.

Alexanders can grow inland, but its mainly by the coast you find them.

it looks a bit like ground alder,whats the difference?
