Thanks for the kind words , its a bit of birch , and i think evey one should have a go at carving a spoon, im 15 and would carve a spoon any day instead of playing on the xbox

I find carving spoons (or any thing else) very relaxing. It is a great way to unwind, if you gather your scrapings, you have some handy tinder and you end up with something vaguely spoon like when you are done.

What I do sometimes with the shavings is get a cardboard egg carton fill it with the shavings and pore candlewax over them . instant firestarters :)

I did a few, then inexplicably lost the ability to make them symmetrical - I hope I find it again soon, it aint arf frustrating!!!
