hey guys,

New to forums but not to camping, got sick of my heavy usual gear with tent etc and decided to slim it down, In the end have decided on trying out a basic hammock camping kit next time i head out see how it goes.

Anyways I'd like some input before i buy/make something. (i like making my own gear where practical)

What kinda setup would you recommend for the Scottish highlands? (i spend a lot of time in Cairngorms (yes i know lack of trees but shh))
this would need to be able to do in cold weather and lots of rain.

If i like hammock camping I intend to make a bridge hammock, (i like the idea and can see some potential there for convert from bridge hammock to mini tent with some modification) and wondered what people have encountered while making their own.

Anyways thanks in advance
-James

And seeing as where you will be using it you might want to use this company..( You can buy just the mesh from them and use it for the hammock net)

Tent is lighter but I LURRRVE the hammock, well worth the extra weight. :)
