Would love to Paul but HAVE to get the new car decided and ordered on the weekend or we miss our delivery deadline. Any other weekend and I would have been there for sure. :(
Hi Mate, long time no see, here are a few pics of a site i use regularly, and if you fancy it, i am up for your "free weekend" so shout back on this thread and i will post directions, goe without saying if any other members of Natural Bushcraft, feel like it they would be more than welcome.
I was not able to log in for ages, but Adam appears to have sorted that.

hey all,
thanks for your replies, looks like i will be tied up ( not in the fun way ) most of saturday now as i have been "volunteered" :mad2: to help host a dog show but i hope to get away from there at the earliest possible opportunity:p .
That in mind i am still up for a night out!
Ivan, great to hear you haven't dropped off the planet mate, were this new site then?
Jonny be great to see you mate.
Glen more than welcome mate.
Martin, not if i see you first:D, what do you mean "see the smoke" do i make white man fire?:ashamed:
Hi Mate, i am lucky enough to have 3 sites within 2 miles of each other, the one in the photo's is the one i can come and go as i please, with no restrictions, so that's where i will be on Saturday, it's 2 miles from Bovey Tracey, on the Haytor road.
If you think you may escape the dog show, and there is still the will to get out, let me know and i will give you precise directions, that go's for anyone else that was thinking of coming .
It's not a bother, i will be there anyway.

Hey Ivan, I'm still in fella, let me know the directions and I'll try and meet you there.
Is it on the B3387? and can I bring my 2 Jack Russells? No worries if not.
Paul,
We'll see when you've finished with the dog show.

great, glad you can make it Jonny, directions then Ivan me ol mate? should only take me an about an hour to get there, whats the site rules regarding dogs, hunting and general bushcrafty like pursuits?
may have to bring my old girl with me(my dog, not my nan) if that's ok?
Hi Chaps, well! it will be good to catch up. Firstly the wood is about 7 acres, reasonably level and well drained, plenty of space to hang or ground dwell, there is a parachute in the main sort of cooking/gathering area, it's a very short level walk in, parking is on the road outside the gate(you will see my silver nissan)
Dogs are fine, you can air rifle/catty hunt or trap. All other manner of bushy related things are acceptable, i have a main fire, under the parachute, but if you want you can have your own.
There is no running water, so we all bring a bit with us,plenty of firewood, just needs gathering.
Directions.
Google Maps/Earth Ref. 50.590103 - 3.708962, thats the reference for the entrance to the wood.
OS Grid Ref; 792 781 On The Dartmoor OL28 Explorer Map.
I will be in the wood from 10.00am on Saturday, as i said my car will be on the road, just park in the same fashion as me,walk through the 5 bar gate and follow the little path in, seemples!
If any of you know a rough anticipated arrival time that would be great.
As usual any questions, fire away.

Ivan...
Glen, sorry mate yeah it is on the B3387, as you climb the hill towards Haytor from Bovey Tracey, the wood is about a mile past The Edgemoor Hotel, on the right hand side.
Yeah dogs are fine, they will love it.

Weather looks good for saturday, I'll try and meet you at 10am Ivan, see everyone else when you get there.
Glen
Mornin! Glen, i will probably be in the wood earlier than 10.00am if it suits you sir, i may even be there from the Friday night ,as Ichneumon, is travelling down from Lancashire, as he does not like to miss out!
Hi Jonny, good news, have not seen your good self or Janie for ages.
But as stated, with all the stuff going on and travel arrangements, just turn up when you can, i won't be going anywhere, once i am safely ensconced in the woods!

Well it seems things may be improving on my availability :happy-clapping:
Looks like the gent we need to see to order the car is not around until next week so I just need to speak to the good lady when she gets home tonight and negotiate my weekend pass. I may even really push my luck and try for two nights if you don't mind another additional one on Friday Ivan.
Hey Jus! Good news, you would be more than welcome pal, i have decided that i will be up the woods on Friday as well, if that helps with persuading your good lady, i will keep an eye on this thread today and last look will be in the morning, so if you can post intentions, great.

As my very good friend Ivan 'the Extinguisher' has pointed out, I shall be travelling down from Lancashire to attend this august assembly. I will be doing this tomorrow (Friday) so if anybody close to my route (M6 - M5) needs a lift please let me know.

:happy-clapping:
Managed to shuffle things about a bit. As I am working not too far away, the good lady suggested that it would be silly to drive all the way home just to drive back again on Saturday, so I may as well stay down for tonight as well.
Who am I to argue eh?
See you later gents. Anything you want brought down?

That is some stove mate. Do you make them to sell.
Haytor two nighter... (pic very heavy!!)
Hi Guy's, well i am obviously snap happy now, i did warn you! An impromptu gathering at a regular spot, a few of my old pal's from over the bridge (Cornwall) had a free weekend, and as it had been way too long, we had a meet.
The pics are pretty self explanatory, but all questions, comments and abuse are always welcome.
Friday night was very windy and the temperature dropped to minus 1, so cold in fact, that someone wrote retard on my car windscreen, and it took me half an hour to lick it off!
Anyway enjoy the photo's and i will add some more nonsense and incriminating comments later.

What a weekend, the stew was rather handsome, did our best to support the various breweries, cider makers and distillers too :ashamed:
The weather was typical of Dartmoor I suppose, it did what it wanted including making the fire burn horizontal. That first night was rather cold but the old DIY underquilt held up well.
I love these meets and meeting new folk. As usual I feel somewhat invigorated and ready to face the world again. Thanks for offering to put us up Ivan, that is one lovely spot you have there and look forward to another visit when I may.
