Home bargains stainless steel container

I found this coffee storage container in home bargains, £1.00 and using some cloche stakes from B&Q £1.30 for 30 I converted it into a nice little cooking vessel.

just drilled some holes and bent the stakes to suit and have a pot and small frying pan. Stripped the paint off and all done, everything fits inside nicely.

Look very similar to the ones 99p store sold for a while, wish they still did as could do with a couple more. Also love the way you've made the handles will have to look in the local B&Q to see if they stock the stakes.

Meant to ask BJ - noticed you have the same "sink drainer" stove as I do but you've cut an opening for adding fuel. I haven't done this on mine so need to lift the pan to add fuel. Is it worth doing and does it affect the way it burns at all?

I too have the IKEA hobo stove, I did have the opening in the front, but found the fuel kept falling out, so I replaced it, and left it intacted. I carry a few bbq brickettes and use them... cheers Ian..

Cheers for that Sar-Ian. I've cut the hole with a very thin slitting disk in the angle grinder so no distortion and kept the bit I cut out. Going to try it and if I don't like it I'll braze the little bit back in again! I also found a similar metal container which I've rubbed up to remove the paint, although still need to go to B&Q to get some of those nice little spikes to make handles!

I haven't had a problem, and while its not a problem to lift the pot off the top while you feed the fire. if like me you use a pot that needs a support across the strainer, any fuel can catch on the support. So I found feeding through the side worked well. cheers for the info BJ T^ still have to try it in anger but probably going to do that tomorrow! going up to my folks so going to try and scrounge some stainless wire off my old man to make a bail handle for it and whilst there it'd be rude not to have a trial run.... :D

I've done the same thing re cutting a feeder slot but only cut the 2 horizontals and 1 vertical line, the result is that it is now ' hinged ' it works fine :)
