My son bought this kit for me for christmas.while I've made knives etc before it was my first attempt at leather work.
first off the good points of the kit.
There was enough wood to make two knives, the blade came shaving sharp and is well finished, tempered to 59 rockwell (tested at work)lastly it came with a fire steel and a piece of antler(not mentioned in the instructions).
Bad points; The piece of leather was barely big enough to make any sort of usefull sheaf(but is of a of nice quality),the thread supplied was a bit short and lastly the instructions left a little to be diesered.
Anyway decided to make it up as is,i recently got myself a mora so sort of copied the handle shape from that,I like a nice chunky handle(you can still hold it ok with gloves on!).

The karesuando knives are sort of regarded as next up from the Mora knives here in Norway.
They are generally cheaper than f.ex Helle and Brusletto knives. But the cheapness is not saying anything about the quality of the blade.
Like a Mora they are excellent value for money, and look way better :-)

And Karesuando is a very nice little town in north Sweden too. I've been trough a couple of times on my way to Finland :-)

Like it Paul, I agree that a large handle is an asset.

I too prefer a larger, beefier handle ;).
