Getting ready to order my new sleep system. Just need the last few kroner to trickle into my bank account.

Looks like it will consist of:

1. A Norwegian sleeping bag, the Isbjørn Jan Mayen (http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=no&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=no&ie=UTF-8&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.isbjorn.no%2Fjanmayen.htmlhttp://) (extreme temp -40*C, comfort temp: -22*C). Lars Monsen used it when he crossed Canada from coast to coast, so it should be good enough for me. It's quite wide and roomy too.

2. the Snugpak under blanket.

3. Tenth Wonder Bivi Hornet Hammock (http://www.twhammocks.co.uk/Hammocks/Hornet-Hammocks/Hornet-Hammock-Removable-Base) (1,8m wide).

4. Probably a TW tarp.

The hammock, tarp and under blanket I have to order from the UK, as nobody imports them to Norway....and if someone did the price would probably be twice what you pay for thjis stuff in the UK...

Anyway, as you seem to have had some nice bellow zero weather with a trinkling of snow, have you been out camping using a TW tarp?
What tarp and how did it hold up in the conditions?

Or if you are experienced with camping under tarps. Based on your experience, and the info available, what tarp would you go for ammon these ones on the TW website?
http://www.twhammocks.co.uk/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=30

And for the record: I got nothing to do with Tenth Wonder what so ever.

I use a DD 3X3m tarp.
I like the extra size, it gives me more protection from the wind.
I have the British army basha, it is about 2m wide, keep's the rain off OK.
But if I was in Norway I guess that I'd get the Tarp with door's, it look's great, it's a bit of a beast though & at 2.5kg far to heavy to pack for any distance.

I use the TW extra long hammock, very nice it is too :)

DD tarps are ruled out, as I am getting a TW hammock. The reason is that I'll try to order most of the UK things from the same place, to save me some costs. I.e one customs fee in stead of 2 or more.

I've considered the tarp with doors, but It's to much of a tent, and as you say, heavy.
But the TW Black sargasso storm tarp may be it. It's got velcro to close the ends in bad weather. And at 3.8x2,5m it's quite roomy. And the weight is 1/3 of the tarp with doors, a 700 grams.

Hmmm....maybe I allready have the answer.

I don't like the look of the Storm option as it appears too closed in when the velcro is pinched together. Without side pulls things are just going to get wet inside.

I have two of the standard Sargasso tarps http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TW-Hammocks-Sargasso-XL-Green-Tarpaulin-Basha-Hammock-2-2-x-3-5m-/370701671215?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item564f8a9b2f

They are 3.6m long so with a couple of additional fixing points added on the bottom edge then you can create your own doors by pulling in the ends to shut things off. I have used this setup with a DD 3x3 very comfortably so the extra length on the TW Sargasso should be really simple.

Hmm, I you may be right about the condensation, but the whole idea is to close it in. And I like to have the option. And if it does not work, I could always do as you do. Or simply use my Jerven bag to close myself in when the weather gets nasty. But will try to avoid that as much as possible, as if I close myself to much in, much of the idea of sleeping in a hammock is lost... i.e sleeping outside where you can enjoy the view.

Ive got a TW 3mx3m tarp, had it for a while now. its a good piece of kit.well made and have never had a problem with it.

i put it up so that if it rains it will collect water for me (providing its not too windy) along the sides but it has never leaked through even with standing water in it.

A lot of the kit from TW is out of stock at the moment. I have the 1.8 metre wide Hornet Hammock with double zips and its a beauty. One of the zips is to enclose your sleeping mat instead of velcro. They are not for sale on the site so contact Neil at TW if you are interested and mention that you saw it on 51Foxy's vid on Youtube, you might get some money off. I did the same and was very pleased with the price.

I'm waiting for one of these tarps to come in. Known as the 'Bungalow Tarp' it has removable doors

The one I want, is the 1,8 m wide Bivi Hornet. And they list that as in stock, so no problem. Thanks for the link. And I am aware of 51foxy, I subscribe to his vids, and
wish I had my own Camp Bazza :-)

I have a 3 x 3 Cornelius tarp seen in the picture below. Never let me down, light enough and packs small, lacks ridgeline loops but the new ones address that issue with more guying points i think, all in all good value IMHO

6860 i had set up a dpm basha as a wind break/extra space too
