I had a big bit of flint at the weekend that started to look like this after several bashes against Dartmoor granite and an axe. Should have kept it and put it on fleebay!

You get loads of lumps of stone on Ebay with selling claiming they are stone axes and such like. Load of tosh.

Where would you find Flint ?
Wouldn't mind having a go at making some flint tools and the like

You should be able to find some in streams and caves.
I found a few pieces in my local area, but they had too many impurities.

if your a bit short on caves and streams have a look in the base of trees that have been blown over both in the hole and in the mud between the roots that are now exposed

It is found is large quantities anywhere where the ground is chalk based. All the south of England is heaving with it. I went to Amesbury to see my partners grandparents, and Fish told me of a disused quarry, went there and got as much as i could carry and i did a few trips. Got loads of it in my cellar now. A ton maybe.
Beaches are also a good place, rocky ones with small cliffs about as it is washed out of them by the tide. Though these tend to be poor quality with many fractures, normally small pieces too.

I'd like one of those Clactonian pebble choppers, there aren't many tools that pre-date handaxes in Europe. I'd prefer a replica than an "original" of unknown provenance and certainly wouldn't pay such money for it.
