Hello everyone!

I guess I should start by telling you folks a little about me. To make it easier for me I’ll just do it in point form (forgive me).

- My name is Tommy and I'm from Canada.
- I am 51 years old and married but we are childless.
- I am college educated and unemployed (I am so much enjoying the global recession, NOT!)
- Due to the above point I'm into bushcraft on a budget. LOL
- I grew up in rural Canada (Lake of the Woods) during the 1960's and 70's and my family was very much into outdoor activities.
- I started camping with my parents when I was six years old and when I was eleven years old my father took me about 10 km into the back country, handed me the map and compass and said “son take us home” which I did.
- Eleven was also when shot a real gun for the first time, before that it was just pellet guns.
- Eleven was when I ate my first wild game that I had hunted.
- At eleven years old I learned how to fillet fish.
- Being eleven years old was a big time for me. I kinda wish I was eleven again.
- I am of English dissent and my family have been in Canada since the 19th century. We can traced our family back to the Normans when our surname was French.

Well that's a little bit about me. I don't want to ramble on about myself too much and bore you nice folks.

I found this forum through the Natural Bushcraft Utube channel. I think that it is a terrific channel and I enjoy watching it very much. I look forward to conversing with you good people and sharing ideas and good times.

Good bye for now.

Thank you all for the warm welcome.

I have put up a few photos for folks to look at. I know they aren’t that good, a combination of newbie photographer and a cheap camera. But I hope you enjoy them anyway.

BTW Mike I love Canadian Tire. T^

Me too, I go there a couple times per week, either to buy more sanding belts for my knife making (STKR Knives, check out my FB page if you want) or for camping gear, past week I've bought a few more dry bags, and today two compression sacks and another 1 liter Nalgene bottle for the GSI Glacier cup I bought off ebay the other day....... and three packs of sanding belts. Lol

Hi Mike

I'm not on face book, so I don't know how to find you. I sure would like to see your knives. Could you post a link to them?

It's an open page, so anyone with or without an account can just search STKR Knives in google and is the first link (future reference). Here's the link:

Thank you for the link Mike.

Wow! Your knives look awesome. I bookmarked your page so I can go back and take my time to look at the beautiful work you do.

When I have money again, I will talk to you about buying a knife Mike. Like the Brits say, “brilliant” just brilliant.

Lol, thanks Tommy, is quite the hobby I have. So far I must have made well over 150 knives in the past 2.5 years since i started making them, majority of them were sold with a couple gifts, past 6 months the bulk of my commissions have been going to the US (think there are about a dozen there currently, and have three more knives to make to go there), but over the past year there are also two in the UK (Fletcher) and one in Denmark (JEEP), the rest are in Canada. Very happy customers, pretty kick ass blades if I do say so myself. :)
