My neck knife is an Opinel #7 ($15 can).

IMO the Opinel is not the most practical knife to get. For down to earth people I would recommend something else. But the Opinel has a kind of charm to it that few knives possess.

Spydercos are off the list then.

Will your neck knife be your main use knife or will it be more of a back up knife or just a small task type of knife?

Just one to take out when on a walk with the dog so i dont have to take a big knife.

Hmm sounds like you want a light duty general purpose knife. You probably can't beat the Mora for this role.

If you have a preference for folding knives there are lots of small cheap ones out there. The Opinel isn't for hard use but it is a classic and beautiful.

Or the peasant mini, a UK legal carry which should be considered if you're just walking the dog.

I forgot about the UK knife laws. I guess my suggestions aren't that good then.

I use a small opinel No.7 on a detatchable cord, it's got a bit ground out of the twist collar to enable it to lock when closed (safety sake)

I've only seen them with plastic, but putting your own choice of wood on yourself would be a nice and easy little project.

I have the CRKT Minimalist Wharncliffe and Bowie and like them. They have good edge retention but a little too tacticool for some. I also have a Svord peasant with sheath that works well too.

The Mora Classic 2/0 (full stick tang) is a decent neck knife, especially for the price.
