Today i did a bit of antler carving,i saw some hares boxing the other day and i was inspired to carve a hare gazing at the full moon, its a country tale/ folklore that Hares stare at the moon,i had intended to use this as a handle for a steel striker for use with a flint, the carving is on red deer crown ,the moon is a mosaic pin and the striker is an ancient file i had in the workshop,as you can see it strikes pretty well!

It is such a shame that we live in an environment where technology and all the mod cons are valued so highly that they become more desirable than the creations so often displayed on this forum. A man with your obvious artistic eye should be able to make a living from such talent, but I suppose it always comes back to the economic times in which we currently find ourselves and where our 'disposable income' finds itself spent.

well said Jus...that and the artisan trades that this nation was once proud to boast of...butchers, bakers, milliners, publicans were the heart of the high street
