The Easy Way to Sight-In an Air Rifle Scope

I'll be going through the usual motions of zeroing my new scope and rifle (when the correct weaver mounts arrive!) and I came across this speedy demo:

I like that. Haven't zero'd a scope in a long time but when I was shooting, it always seemed harder than that.

i have to admit i'm not too fond of that method. you need a really sturdy rifle clamp for that method to work, and i much prefer to zero it as i naturally hold the rifle.

I second Mr Ruston. I sight in various sights (red dots and scopes on rifles airpistols and ) for my self on others and never come across such a method. the methods major fault is the fact the by clamping the rifle down it is not allowed to carry out its normal recoil so when you come to use it the rifle will not perform as expected.

Well, I'll be getting down a range next week (hopefully) so I'll try this out before the normal method. I'll give you a heads-up on groupings afterwards.

Should be intresting to find out..what range (distanct not location) are you sighting in at?

my sighting distance go as follw: 30 yrds for .22 pcp, 35yrds for .177 pcp, 25yrds for .22 springer, 30yrds for .177 springer.

30 yrds for .22 pcp as Aaron says, but depends on what the range has got available at the time as I'm not a member.

sounds good ..I sight mine in at 25yards at my local range but then go back to 50 yards to get an understanding of the pellet drop for the rare shots of 30 yards

I have a BSA Lightning which is a real solid springer with a simmons whitetail classic scope (using RWS super domes...awesome pellet) bought it because i wanted to shot in the garden but I have a .22 Long Rifle Ruger 10/22 and a 12 gauge so shooting at greater distances is not realy required of my air rifle.

Hi Guys,

My rifle came with some Napier Power UPH pellets. I normally used Superdomes. Whilst I'm waiting for the high Weaver mounts to arrive, has anyone tried the Napiers?

Well, got a range in Wandsworth for £5 (including rifle rest, etc) with 25 yard range and a 50 yard range so I can bracket. Not bad eh?

looking forward to hearing how well it shoots. i've never had good expreinces with napier pellets. JSB and air arms pellets have come out tops as the most accurate in a variety of guns. but give them a go as your gun might like them.
