I know someone who got bit last year. They were quickly diagnosed and are all sorted now, but even with swift treatment, they were very ill for a good couple of months. Certainly an eye opener.

Now I am no expert, but I think that unlike Wayne's helpful line, this video, that is one of the top result for the search - How to remove a tick; could actually do more harm than good.

As far as I am aware, I have never been bitten by a tick, but I wanted to keep some twisters in my pack as a just-in-case.
We get chiggers here, they bite n make you itchy n scratchy. Loads of horse flies here too.

Up here we have not had them until now. But with the climate change, they have spread this far north too.

I guess I have to learn how to protect myself and the kids. I was vaccinated against lyme I think when we deplyed overseas with the army. Perhaps I should find out if that one is still good...

Exactly...I have become a little good at removing them off the dog - never had one on myself...yet. I know our dogsbodies have had them particularly down in the south

if im honest i had no idea ticks could be so dangouras... iv had dogs get them before but never myself... think ill def be investing in a tick removal tool, like JonneyP says - just in case!
