I love doing a bit of whittling and each week I might buy a cheap tool to add to my collection. I have a few now, things like rasps and cheap knives. For a while I have been looking for a chopper, something smaller than an axe but nice in the hand and sturdy.

I was in a local hardware store yesterday and found the perfect item.

These knives are full tang and weigh 204g. A few strokes on a strop makes them razor sharp and ready to tackle anything. Prices vary for this and my local sell them for just under a tenner but I found one at the back with an old sticker priced at £5.75 !!.

If you want to make your life a little bit easier when woodworking, I think one of these might help.

Cheers Neil

I've got a cheap generic machete, that is a similar deal and does a similar job. Got an axe in the shed, which get some use in the garden, but I've never taken it out hiking / camping as it is a big heavy lump of a thing and I would look and feel like a bit of a twonk, with it attached to my pack.

But that is just me, each to their own.

I'm definitely more of a fan of this type of chopping tool, when enjoying the great outdoors.

Good find fella, thanks for sharing
