Tree book

I am really not on the right page but couldn't see a "book" thread.... I am looking for a book which shows me how to identify british trees and their bushcraft uses ect ........

Yup - agreed. I used mine yesterday to identify a Spindle tree, so called as the wood was used to make the spindles onto which wool was spun.

Just checking the details. I have a few Collins books I received 2013 onwards. Collins Tree Guide ISBN 978-0-00-720771-8 £18.99 *gift have also 1 on Fungi same range of books.

Toney something I found of interest. Our Countryside/Woodland Trust & Forestry Commission keep a record of what trees are officially planted plus location. I sometime ask them for A4 print outs of locations as to I.D trees. In the local area a number of non native species were planted gifted to the area & curious as to what actually was planted. Details were readily available.

Thanks again david. I will be trying to get as much info as possible without overloading myself straight away.I goin to the lakes for an overnighter next week where I will be able to practice my learning. I've also just ordered three books to help me two tree guides and food for free. All collins.

I have both the Usborne Trees book and the Collins Nature Guide. Both great but the Collins is a bit more detailed and has photos rather than drawings and is more grown up.
The Collins is ISBN-10: 0261674013 by Aas and Riedmiller. On Amazon for a penny at the minute.

Wildflowers of Britain and Northwest Europe (DK Handbooks) by Christopher Grey-Wilson.
Photos and detailed descriptions. The pictures in Food for Free aren't great for identifying to be honest. This book is available for pennies on Amazon.
