Just went for nice little bimmble with the family and friends round Skipwith common. Its a lovely area to walk in North Yorkshire, about half way between York and Selby.
The plan was to get 2 geocaches whilst we were there.
After we got out of the wind and in to the trees we found the first one under a little bridge

Soon after we stopped for a picnic and I got to use my honey stove for the first time in the woods. Very impressed with it, also very happy with my lid for my Crusader cup from launditch1

After the brew, we cleared up after ourselves and left no trace of the picnic or the stove.
Nice view of the woods

We got the 2nd cache just as the heavens opened up on us.
Forgot to take any more pictures as not used to having a good phone that can do that.

Looks like you all had a good day out Resnikov-and got to try out your honeystove too (a Christmas pressie ?), when I was down your way last year I went to 'the gascoigne express' cache-found the location and took pics of the siamese tree-no cache as it had been 'muggled' :(, was a nice place to visit and amazing woodland too

Lol.. I have some great memories, and I recommend visiting.. Chris Evans enjoyed the place when he did a live show here last year.. http://news.bbc.co.uk/local/cornwall/hi/people_and_places/newsid_8950000/8950007.stm

Looks like you had a lovely time, thanks for sharing.
Great to see the Honeystove being used, how were you for tinder & kindling?... it's a great exercise I find to teach the kids how to find proper dead twigs, I learnt the art of delegation from Martin ;)
Plenty of Birch there in the third shot :)

I cheated a little with the honey stove, put a little fire lighter in to get started as you don't have the biggest time window with kids before they get bored :p Lots of small twigs on the ground to pick up and use, got it going really well. Had realized how hungry the honey stove can be for wood. Maybe I should have looked a bit harder for slightly bigger bit of wood.

It's not really cheating when your out having a picnic with family/kids, you can light the thing however you want! :)
When I'm out for a brew or camp I quite enjoy finding dead standing hazel on my journey, often a couple of good long wands will offer you a variety of thickness's at either end. I like the fact that the honey-stove can take some quite large pieces when you've got some, then it takes less maintaining. :) ... but again get those kids trained up on identifying good twigs; saves you the legwork then :p

I always cheat with my wood burning stoves Res :) I use those Zip Natural (http://www.zipfires.com/uk/winter-warmth/zip-winter-products-natural-firelighters/) fire lighter thingies. I cut them up into thinner pieces so I get about four or five to each block, they fold nicely into an L-shape which is dead easy to get going.
Did I mention my bag of tinder I carry too :)
