I went for a walk last Wednesday night after Cubs and decided to take the long way home. It was a beautiful night and saw some amazing sights.

Some deer crossing the path almost right in front of me.

Lovely sunset.

So this combined with the fact that I was on holiday from work and the weather was forecast was this unheard of thing called summer I decided to go for an overnighter - my first proper wild camp!

So next morning I got up packed my bag and headed out after lunch. I wondered about for a bit on one of the paths to my usual haunt and then sat for a bit and had a go at spoon carving (no pic but it wasn't the greatest anyway). After a while I thought I'd best think about finding a spot for the night. As the path I was on can be a bit busy with dog walkers I decided to head up Brimmond Hill and had the intention of going over the top and then into the woods at the other side. However as the sun was beming down I decided not to go so far so just went part the way up and decided to take the circular path round and see if I could find a secluded spot to hang from.

I found a spot and set up camp.

Camp set up it was time for a coffee...

....and some sausages for tea.

After that I had a go at making bannock in my Zebra Billy can (inspired by Rune's recent thread about what to do in it, up until now all I'd done was boil water or heat up pouch meals). No photo of the finished article but it tasted nice enough with another coffee made from the water in the billy.

After that I sat and chilled just listening to the sounds and enjoying the fine weather. I took a bit of a wander back to the path to see what I could see and looking back to camp it was pretty invisible.

My last view from bed at night..

... and when I woke up...

Then it was time for a spot of breakfast.

Then packed up and went home (well after two more cups of coffee!).

Of course I tidied up afterwards - Leave No Trace.

Hopefully I've done this right and you can see the pictures!
Have to say I really enjoyed being out but think I would revise my kit and carry less as the pack was a bit heavy to lug about. Problem is i like playing with all the kit! :happy-clapping:

Well thanks for reading guys hope you enjoyed my first Wild Camp (and first trip report!). I've enjoyed reading so many of yours I thought it time I contributed a little.

Lovely looking spot, that.
I like somewhere with a bit of open sky rather than stuck deep in the woods.

Thanks guys.
It was the first time I've been to that particular patch of woods and it is quite a nice open space right on the edge of a very dense patch. The good thing is it is still quite near the path but almost completely hidden from it. Very bumpy ground though so glad I took the hammock instead of the tent!
