After Posting on the ''What have you bought now!!!???'' thread i thought id put this post up.

After watching Justin review the Svord Peasant Knife on NB i decided to buy one and mod it myself,
So here's how it arrived...

As stated in Justin's Video the finish quality of the knife was just abit off, The scales dont quite line up and have an ugly square chamfered edge.
First step is to strip the knife down to its component parts and removed the small amount of varnish from the scales....

removing the blade its self, re-bolt the scales together and sanded them, so firstly they would now match up and removed the chamfered edge.

I also filled the top edge of the blade with a file to square it off...

The Svord Peasant is such a simple but affective knife the operation and design are brilliant, Its ashame the finish is in my opinion so bad from the factory,
but that said i really enjoyed doing this and it does make the knife more yours. So i guess im glad it comes with the finish it has from the factory :happy-clapping:

thanks for looking

Dan.

Great work mate. looks a million times better. It's surprising how a bit of effort can improve a cheap knife sometimes :)

I do like the Svord peasant knife.
I like their simplicity and I like their roughness - both ideal ingredients to encourage one to do a bit of modification and personalising.
What I have never liked is the way the back of the knife tang sits above the handle when the blade is out. I just can't see the purpose of that and it looks unsightly and uncomfortable. I'm sure it would be easy cut it back - the first thing I would do is trim that tang.
Often thought of getting one. Having one in damascus would be my choice.

Am I right in saying that the regular Svord peasant falls outside UK EDC legal parameters? (for the record, I measure the length of the blade along the curve, just to be safe it falls within whatever dimension the duty officer decides to measure it by. I don't care if that's the way it's supposed to be measured or not, or what the actual legislation states, that's the way I measure it since that will be the longer dimension and if that is within 3" then all will be well.)
Although I believe the Svord mini is within limits?

The intended purpose of the tang being like that, is to allow a cord being secured to it, and the knife still open properly. I agree, it doesn't look very comfortable, but must say I've never noticed it digging into my hand at all. Probably will now though lol.

I measure EDC blades the same as you. There can be no grey area then ;)
