Here are some pictures taken from my recent canoe trip. The camera is in an old style flip phone so the photos aren’t that good and memory was limited. I will try to have a better camera for next month when I go again.
Here in Alberta we've had crazy flooding, there are news stories about it on the web. I took this pic near our campsite. It is of driftwood pushed back into the forest by the high water.

With the recent flooding and windy weather on our arrival day we didn't travel as far as we had originally planed. A good shore to land on was hard to find, most of the shoreline was mud. As it turned out this rocky beach was the best spot for kilometres around, so we ended up staying here for the week.

The first thing that we set up was our tent back in the shelter of the woods. We found a spot safe from falling limbs and trees. We had door facing toward the morning sun.

While setting up our camp we kept getting a whiff of some bad smelling something. So we went looking and found the source of the bad smell. A moose about 100m from were we had landed. The maggots were poring out of its belly like water out of a garden hose.

We noticed that somebody had been feeding on the moose and left their paw prints behind.

The cat came back each night and left its prints for us to find on the beach in the morning. The cat was no longer eating from the moose.

Well at this point we had run out of the water we had brought from home and the only source was the same water that washed up the moose. No problem we have good water system.

The next day was very hot, near 30C. We laid on mats that we use to kneel on while paddling in the canoe. The mats were able to cover my torso and I used a sweeter for a pillow, my legs were fine. It was quite comfortable and we had a pleasant day at the beach.

I made the mats from an old exercise mat that I cut in half and ducked tapped the edges.
The next day was also very hot but since we had enough sun the day before, we set up our tarp and had another pleasant day at the beach.

Later in the week the weather turned bad, high winds, rain and an overnight low of about 5 C, daytime high of about 15 C. So we move the tarp into the shelter of the woods and made a wind break.

This is my table. I paid one dollar for it at the salvation army thrift store. It is a plastic food tray turned upside down and placed on four stakes. The cool feature of this table is that it can be turned right side up and used as a shallow wash basin.

Of course what is camping without a camp fire.

And a couple of random shots to finish off with.
