but if they did they'd be a little like this one! lol

fancied making something this evening for a bit of fun and i decided on making a new strop,wood backed with an antler handle.

so heres the raw materials,a nice bit of English yew and a red deer horn from an Exmoor stag that met with an untimely end ....but thats another story!

now a strop as this deserves better than jewellers rouge or toothpaste for a compound so i managed to aquired some 60micron diamond cutting paste:

apply just a little:

and this stuff cuts well! razors edge in just a few strops of the knife.

Lol! Yes, even fish as big as you, though I doubt you'll taste as good.

That's gorgeous Fish.
Lovely bit of wood (my Missus finds it funny when I say that!) and the Antler just sets it off. I bet you could pay good money for something like that!:happy-clapping:

thanks gary,i recomend the diamond paste to anyone who uses a strop.

That looks great fish, much better than the one I made from a ropey bit of pine! I use veritas honing compound, although I can never get the stuff to go on smoothly.
