Ladies and Gents,
Quick intro - residing in the arse of the county of Kernow!! Been into survival primarily (havent we all) through Lofty's infamous book as a wide eyed 9 year old and have become more enthusiastic of all facets for about 5 years now. Anymore Kernow bushcrafters around here and are any going up to the Wilderness Gathering? I'll be up on Sat morning for the weekend if anyone wants to meet, chat and chill!!
Hope to learn, learn, learn on here guys! I have a question to ask which Ill put up as a post; probably been debated before anyways!!
Thanks!:happy-clapping:

welcome :)
I'm not from Kernow I'm afraid, I'm just over the boarder in England (okehampton). I'll be at the gathering though. I'm working there, with my forge and sharpening gear along with lots of sharp and shiny things to tempt you with :)
Make sure you come by the Man Creche (my forge) while you are there. It is THE place to be!

And I would add a good dose of insect repellent to that list to keep the ticks at bay!
welcome :)

Ahh, Mr Budd!! Don't worry, I planned to visit you plenty, must of read my mind! I'll be relieving you of some waterstones please, bribing you to put an edge on a variety of blades and re-engaging with you about a sharpening course I emailed you about on July (via Tris Kessell). You'll be bored with my face after Sunday!
I'll try and stay clear of the old forge water and stick to fire water;)

And don't go near that stuff they sell as Cider. Can't miss it as I swear it glows in the dark. I was not good the next day after drinking a tub of that.

funny how many people are told to steer clear of the forge water and yet curiosity still gets the better of them. Its that big red button saying 'do not push' accompanied by peer pressure :D

I wouldn't want people to stay away completely from it, they would miss out on an experience. Life would be boring without a little adventure :)

I can't decide to drink from the hallowed altar or not now.... I'll wait for the sales pitch on the day! Is there a secret hand signal, password, badge or silly walk (prior to forge water) to recognise forum users or just wave a flag!? I'll probably pitch a tent instead of throwing up a bivi in the woods, but are any folk planning on camping close?

Hopefully mr bud can partake in the drinking of water and his hand is better then I can ruin his false idea of craziness and replace it with a need for therapy

hello Mouse, where'd you come from?
Finishing off the anti-biotics tomorrow, so will be persuaded to sup a beer or two I'm sure ;)
There are no secret handshakes (at least none that I've been privvy to!) and the only sales pitch is "here try my forge water. No? Go on, don't be a big girls blouse"

About time I was beginning to doubt the legends I've been making the pilgrimage from moot to gathering whilst harvesting pegs :p

:welcome: Janso, from 'sunny' St Ives. I hope you have an ansum time at the wilderness gathering.
I've not tried forge water myself, but someone I know who has said, if you don't wear glasses before you try it, you might find you need a pair after trying some.
Sounds like good stuff :D

this year sees a new improved recipe for the forge water, so even more fun :D
Mouse, does this mean that 'pegging' is going to spread to the Man Creche?

I can't believe you think I would be so childish :ashamed:

Welcome to the forum janso. I second the motion of watching out for the forge water. Although what it is exactly is completely unknown to me at this moment. I hear it changes a little each time ;)

Adam; thanks for the welcome.
Well; I'm gonna have to have a slurp now then aren't I?! Bit of a 'dare you' situation I feel... Oops, jumping in with both feet again!

Its part of the initiation ceremony. The other part is trying to find where you pitched up after.

There was actually a meet (http://www.naturalbushcraft.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?6375-Anyone-up-for-a-camp-in-cornwall&p=91280&viewfull=1#post91280) last weekend up Ladock way (which is about half way between Truro and St Austell, if you don't know it) with attendees from Camborne, Helston and other places roundabouts. Fate rather cruelly stepped in at the last minute and prevented me from attending, but from what I gather, a good time was had by all and there may well be another such meet. Keep your eye on the South West Meet Thread (http://www.naturalbushcraft.co.uk/forum/forumdisplay.php?40-South-West-England) for any future gatherings.
So where abouts are you spitting from?
Atb.
