Im just getting something simple for this year from Argos or The Range if it gets me through this year I will be happy. Then I can get better for next year if it has broken and I can still use it for spares. My budget for this year is small till I have checked everyones kit out then I can copy some LOL

Hi Scott. We've got the five man version and I may be taking it to the Cornwall RV. If you can wait till then, why not have a look at ours? We had it up very briefly in the garden at the end of last summer and it seemed ok. To be honest, not sure I'd pay £50 for the two man version and it weighs a ton in comparison to other 2 man tents.

Sorry can't be more help.

well im looking at a possible bday present, the reason im thinking of this one is because theres that bit more height and plenty of room in comparison to other 2 man tents. If i did get it i would like to try just taking the the main shell not the pegs, pole or groundsheet wich would seriously cut the weight down from 3.75kg. Why am i not surprised you have one of these Martin lol.

I've never heard a good thing about those Argos teepees.

I have one of those Polish army laavus - it was only £22 from Luton army surplus. They're easy to put up (once you've worked out the buttoning). They're ideal for just one person (be a bit snug with two of you plus equipment, but you could get two in there) and comes in bushcraft-friendly olive green!

I've got a parachute teepee, great fun as long as you've got a friend to help you put it up. :)

Just looked at the Teepee's on Argos and they have reduced the 12 MAN TEEPEE to £49.99 http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3400803.htm#pdpFullProductInformation

I keep looking at this (also from Argos) a Coleman Bedrock. Looks a bit snug, but I'm thinking, just me and the dog.

Oh, while we're on the subject, is it worth 'beefing up' a cheap tent, or take it for what it is?

Carl, 2000mm hydrostatic head won't be very waterproof. In fact, the most waterproof thing about that tent will be the seams which they have taped. :)

On the other hand, for summer use it may be nice and roomy for one. Also 2.5Kg isn't in any way lightweight, unless you count the fact that it's lighter than 2.6Kg. The price is brilliant though.

Still making my mind up about which bloomin tarp to get. I know I want the Tatonka, but I've run out of justifications to convince the good lady!

In which case, the time has come to order it and apologise later (Only joking Cat ;)). Seriously, what's the price difference? £20 or £30?? Split that over 3 or 4 years and it pales into insignificance.

Having just bought a new expensive tent, I'm expecting to get a good ten years out of it (looking after it properly, like I did with my last one). For me, it's just not worth buying a cheap one when you consider year-on costs it works out a lot cheaper to make the investment in the first place.

You're an Akto man aren't you Steve? At that price, Carl could buy a new tent every year for ten years and come out about evens. ;)

Wouldn't have the quality though. It's got a 'bucket' bottom for snow pitching and the vents are brilliant for condensation.

You're a hard woman Cat!! How can you keep a man and his desired kit apart?? It's inhuman and I'm sure there must be something in the Geneva Convention that prohibits it. ;)

Couldn't agree more Steve, which is why I went for the Terra Nova. I love the quality feel and features of the thing. I always forget to adjust the ventilation though so I always end up with a tent full of condensation in the morning. No excuse either as the ventilation is adjusted by pulling one of two lines which are inside the tent.

I think we'll have to have a tent showing off session at a meet sometime soon.

Mine's still shiny....only been used in the garden so far (yeah, I know!), and I reckon I can beat your five-minute setup...

And I double stitched the footprint using the 'extended vee' stitching on my sewing machine (whatever that is).

I would be glad to join you in a tent showing off session but I'm sure my 17yr old Academy Broadway 3 man £15 (in 1994) tent would win hands down for value for money lol. It has served me well and also been to many a muddy, wet and windy festival which my daughter uses it for. I am thinking of taking it to the Cornwall RV instead of my Icarus 500.

2000mm HH is more than plenty waterproof

I have had a coleman tent and it was really thought out and constructed, that was many moons ago though so I cannot say that the quality today is the same as it used to be-what you might want to consider GaryB with the tent is porch space-that wee tent looks grand-but doesn't look like it has much space under the outer canopy

Have to say the price is good, however we had one of these for the Beaver Scouts to rest in out of the sun at a day camp and it didnt last 5 minutes, not very robust.
