I'm a long way of getting fit, I said "improve fitness" lol.
At this stage I just want to lose a stone or two and improve stamina. I have been biking and walking more than I used to so that will help. Just need to start eating better as well.
I really want to try and get out as much as possible this year and do some walking/camping in dales etc, especially in summer.
If you dont do it at your age Ad you never will !

I got £7 refund because the liner in pic is not included (sorry but advert has now been amended)

A bit bulky but has all the ties inside for a liner and a tie up pocket in base to fit your sleep mat.
Leaving the mat in is a good idea it was a bit of a struggle)
http://www.naturalbushcraft.co.uk/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=12119&d=1400073184
It has a small hole near the foot box for inflation valve access.
http://www.naturalbushcraft.co.uk/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=12118&d=1400073138
After further inspection I found 4 patches and a pocket in the draft flap containing 1 short and 2 long plastic tubes.
http://www.naturalbushcraft.co.uk/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=12120&d=1400073233
It works out these are supposed to support the mossi net (in a pocket just inside the bag) away from your face.
Can't see them working too well.
Other than that seems to be a decent bit of kit (should be better in the hammock)
I intend to use my warm weather bag inside it when the temp' drops again.

What's it for bud, I have a few sitting around ATM, my late father in law was a serious military collector. (Moving house was fun as I inherited a decommissioned Brennan Gun, didn't want the neighbours freaking out). If I've got an Amo can that fits your requirements, I'd give you it for the cost of the postage.
ATB Shug.
Hi Shug. Similar to Wayne, I would like something I can transport my sharps in, the largest of which is a small forest axe. On me that measures elbow to fingertips (same limb!).
I've even tried taking my hot air paint stripper to some heavy duty plastic tubing but I would quite get the axe head to fit :zombie-fighting:
Bren Gun not required though :happy-clapping:
Cheers,

Lol I moved Bren Gun in a locked guitar case #buggsy lol. Have you ever considered making up a lockable flight case if it's to take an axe in, I've done it in less than a day. I used to use an old travelling trunk I got for a couple of quid at a car boot. But I'll see if I've got something about that size and PM you if I do.

http://www.completeoutdoors.co.uk/Highlander-HPX300-Compact-Trekking-Stove
Great bit of kit. Boils half a litre of water (tested indoors) in 2 minutes flat, so nice and quick, very sturdy and lightweight. Can be used with the cheaper gas canisters if you buy one of those cheap adapters from China and will cut the price of refills down to less than a pound each if you can buy the packs of four in your area.

I like your thinking Fish.
I bought a brand new twelve man pod tent outer flysheet for about £9.00. Managed to get enough poles for it from Freecycle and I have a tent footprint tarp which is just over 8 x 7. This tent will now replace the one we lost for a cost of around £20.00.
I enjoy making stuff from old instead of paying for it.

Just been down the carboot and bought a sleeping bag. I think its quite old as it was quite fusty but it only weighs a kilo and packs down to nothing. It is made by a company called Campus and is filled with Thermaloft 6. Even if its just a Summer bag, it was worth the £2.00 I paid for it.
Does anybody know anything about these bags.

No I'm comfy enough all be it most hammocks are a bit on the short side. I'm just finding them not that versatile in the areas I'm going to more and more these days, when I can just put a bedroll down wherever. Being in Scotland stealth camping is a non issue, a bedroll gives me more freedom with regards to terrain as I don't have to think about hanging it. So in all I'm disillusioned by the lack of flexibility for the way I tend to bushcraft now. Don't get me wrong I won't be getting rid of mine, just putting it away for a good while so I can hone my skills in other fields.

That's the very reason I don't and won't even trying hanging around. I would be limited to woodland and tbh I want to get away from the dense and obvious bushcraft habitat. There's more to it than staying in the trees, I want marshland, beaches, dunes scrub and scree. To broaden my skills I feel I have to move away from what I always do.

Precisely....ground dwelled last time I was out just for a change even though I was in a pine forest....It was well comfy too. Cut my teeth on mountain and moorland where hammocks were useless.

A 2 layer hammock can also be used as a bivi in bad weather when a tarp would be impractical, another multi purpose item ;)

But surely it depends on where you're planning to go? For example if I'm specifically planning to go to woods I would take my hammock setup. If I was planning to go to non-woodland I would take my tent, tarp or bivi setup. Although I think it would be nice to change back to ground dwelling once in a while for woods as well as a change. I'll be going back to traditional/vintage style in summer for a few trips. :)
What I mean is If you're specifically trying to avoid woodlands then obviously you wouldn't be taking your hammock anyway?

Well, I am blessed with being in an area where trees are never far off. It does not matter if I am on the beach, or in some place boggy. The only place where thare are no trees are above the tree line...and I can't be bothered to hike up there. If I go there it will be by car...so no problem setting up camp bellow the tree line then. Hammocks are simply to comfy to let go off. Before hammocks, sleeping out was the same as getting little to no sleep at all, rolling around on a narrow sleeping mat with the impossible task of getting comfy. On many overnight trips, i did not bother getting in my tent at all, as I knew it would be useless, and sat up fishing all night...after hammocks I have to bring an alarm clock to wake me up!

Ah I see, I was going on assumption you already had a hammock. Have you actually tried/slept in a decent setup hammock? :)
You will never have a more comfier sleep than in a properly setup hammock, in fact I would quite happily replace my double bed with a hammock for sleeping if it wasn't for obvious reasons ;)

Nope. Without sounding ignorant, I really just don't want to. I'm happy with being a mud dweller and have always done so. Ain't broke don't fix it, keep it simple stupid... I could go on but you see my meaning. If I had just a hammock on a walkabout I'd be limited. So I just go with the roll so I can always have a dry place to kip, if admittedly not always comfortable
I barely have the cash for the things I have, let alone adding to the list of wants :)

Normally Ide use my tenon saw but these blades are flexible allowing you to cut with your blade angled to 45 degrees or so (spring steel) which is helpfull for the job in hand. Having said that if I ever wear this out I will buy a good Jap blade cos I is impressed. Too late with the warning though  kidding. Blood bud, I'd watch the edge on those condors as they are prone to rolling and chipping. However modern knife use is different to that described by Nessmuk, he used his knife for food prep, and his axe for everything else, apart from whittling which was his canoe patterns job. Just a bit of food for thought.

What you englsih speakers understand as a puukko is a whitling knife. Thats what it is designed for. The Norwegian word for it is "Tollekniv" from old norse talguknifr - talgu = to whittle/shape. knifr=knife.
The word puukko by he way is the finnish word for knife...any kind of knife.

Most 1700s pipe style hawks were solid ended it was called a long polled axe, it was quite common on the trade axes and the basis of the riggers axe. I can definitely see a nod to that design in the Les Stroud Wetterlings model.

Somebody told me about them last week and I forgot all about them.
I thought I had a bargain today when I received a Eurohike hiking airbed through the post from Ebay. Opened it up and found it had been patched twice and when I blew it up one of the reeds went straight down. I got my money back straight away and then bought a brand new Gelert one for £9.99 from Sports Direct.
I then went over to Mountain Warehouse as they had a sale on. Was just about to pick up a Coleman gas canister when I saw they were charging £9.99 compared to my local store price of £4.75. So much for a sale.

With the Polar Nordics, what I've found them to benefit from is taking the secondary grind out and then Stropping them on a belt strop to a micro convex or scandivex. It's the problem with most commercial blades now, I've found anything with a Scandi Grind is always secondary bevel, it's called Scandi zero otherwise.

Just strip the paint off, give the handle some nice oil and the edge some love. Oh yeah, and force a patina on it to give it some protection :-)

Anyone like to post some contact details on here while they are listing all their rather expensive gear?
Just thought I would ask as there does not seem to be much thought about the info that is being put in the public domain  By all means let us know of your purchases, bargains and gadgets that you have bought folks but there is a little concern growing about just how much info is being posted. A little thought prior to listing all your worldly goods and Tesco shopping list may not go amiss, we don't want anyone leaving themselves vulnerable.

If you've not used one before make sure you update the map, especially if it's used, as a lot of people tend to just buy them and keep same map so it could be out of date and find it directs you into dead ends :D

Thanks for the advice.....but yes I have used sat nav before just never owned one. Its not because I'm a technophobe but because I simply didn't need one and I have had to rescue the end result of blindly following 'dashboard doris' more than once.....
Funnily enough I remember the first GPS units..they were that big they were vehicle mounted and only gave position info in Lat/Long......you wouldnt have been very old back then....come to think of it you may not have been born lol

Indeed, I have seen some news about numpties in big lorries getting stuck in narrow lanes because they blindly followed the satnav. Dave and myself got directed to a dead end more than once in Bury when trying to pickup yungen on way to Ruthin, The map was uptodate but just shows how much things can change in between updates.
Civilian GPS arrived in early 80's so I was definitely around, I may be young but not that young ;)

Not being specific Adam, just relating to posts in general. It is something that has often crossed my mind about forums and the type of info placed for all to see. Another one is the meets that are organised and everyone announcing 'I'm not home on these dates folks!'.

Work quite well even though Thin rifled barrel is encased in plastic. Can be improved by "melting off that plastic blob on end of barrel, then one is able to fit an 15.5mm adapter, and a Silencer.

I will beat you all, Fiat Ducatto van as my current Vivaro has knackered turbo, EGR valve fouling up, clutch nearing end of life which usually means that the gearbox is not far behind on these vans. I would be looking at close to £3500 to sort it out. Oh, and then there's the suspension that was an advisory on the last MOT...

On my old Ford Scorpio, I must have changed all the parts of the front suspension (bad road up here), all the brake parts including calipers, only to have the traction control sensor die, wich meant no ABS. The clutch started to smell burned, and when the front wind screen cracked, I gave up and traded it in...I had spent about 1500£ in repairs...they gave me 500 for it...

Its the same sort of thing here in the UK Rune. Unless you break it yourself and sell it on, the older cars are pretty much worth nothing.
We now drive a 2002 Passat 1.9 TDI. Compared to most people we know, its pretty old but its a great car and for the well under book price we got it for, we couldn't say no. If it lasts us ten years like our old one, we will be happy.
