hello,
I received a couple of packs of these Rolson Multi Tool 36008 packets to try out rrp £7.00 (freebies) I'll have a play around with them see what they stand up to or other. So far the saw & the blade on the pliers I've used to great effect with a piece of flint & fire steel (char cloth tinder) blades are sharp shaved a piece of wood into a feather stick for tinder. Jury is still out, if I had nothing but such in a survival situation, I'd have to use them. Might be a gizmo for a keychain or spare in a survival tin?
Anyone used such or have in their kit feel free to add. When I have time I'll take them out for a field test see how they fair.
Regards
David

ive got those, the knife is too small for most jobs, but for things like cutting cord, opening packets, or other small cuts it does ok, the 'saw' is pretty useless, far too short for anything of use.. the pliers fit nicely in your hand, but the short length does mean you cant really keep a large amount of pressure on anything whilst twisting.. all in all id say they are good for there size, deffinately not to be concidered more than a backup not really suitable for a 'first line' tool of any kind...

hello,
I've used the small saw edge for Fire Steel gives off good shower of sparks. The small knife I'd say more so in usefulness, both tools came as a packet. I agree with what you say & as said a 'back up' if nothing else available

I have no experience of this tool, however I do have some experience with Rolson tools in general. I would say Yungen was spot on.

hello,
Thanks for your valid comment rossbird. Rolson Tools looking at the selection so far aren't on my priority list 'but' for a freebie well at least I'm going to give the tools a try before I 'diss' them that's 'If..' Mates lad added these to a Lifeventure Tritan Flask 1000ml as a Survival Kit. We picked up a few of these flasks early in the year an American 'Prepper' gave us the idea sometime ago in using such as a in car Survival Kit, tried & tested. So the Rolson Tools are an added bonus now

Hi David I prefer to use a 1 L stainless, you can then use it to boil water as well as storage 9908 Its got a really wide top to get kit in. Ken

hello,
DITTO but the plastic was a freebie from a Outdoor Supplier who donated a few of these for a good cause, a donation followed to the Scottish Mountaineering Rescue Team, so we improvised using the plastic  BTW some PM's from other users, the tools have been used in similar fashion as suggested, & included within fishing tackle boxes great to hear such.

I have exactly the same Rolson pack. No idea where the tiny multi tool has gone, but carry the pocket knife on a lanyard. The corkscrew and can opener get the most use from it lol.

hello,
It's not exactly a Swiss Army job but does the business as a spare blade etc..

My local Aldi was doing these, I got one at a reduced cost of £2.00 after they were still on the shelves after a few weeks. It lives in the car.

The caretaker at one of the buildings I service every month has one of these on his office desk and i wasn't too impressed. However, I am a total tool (multi or otherwise) snob. I hate using cheap/poorly made or designed tools, but at the price they are it's hard to argue against them as a back up.

hello,
Shepherd your packet was delivered to your home & signed for on 23rd October 2015 enjoy  happybonzo as I said not bad as a freebie. I've put the tools through their paces on Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme, Bushcraft/Survival use & the Scouts have tried & tested such too. To reiterate they're not SAK but if there was nothing else in your pocket in any given situation, then I'd say they do have their usefulness. I had a online discussion with one of the State Side Bushcrafters Joe, they were GAW very similar branded tools to the Rolson Tool 36008 & gave them the thumbs up.
