You'll find almost any acronym/abbreviation in common use on http://www.urbandictionary.com/ but I should warn you that all sorts are written on there and it can be very explicit!
As for SWMBO, you might also see SWIMBO, which has the "Immediately" added to the standard definition. :)

Carefull of the urban dictionary, it contains "anti scousisims" that may offend liverpudlians! You have been warned......! ;)

This appeared after I posted.
I thought the matter you are referring to was done and dusted and we had all moved on. But if it is still an issue for you, then we can get the moderators involved an let them sort it out?
Up to you fella.

Oh dear. I thought the laughing smiley would explain that it was a joke! No, we don't have to go anywhere, it was just an off the cuff comment in the name of humour! Chill Winston!

Deary me indeed. Such an off the cuff comment, you took the time to think, then type it.
And it has provoked a reaction. so mission accomplished. Congratulations.

It certainly has more of a ring to it than MOLLE utility pouches

Gents, this is starting to remind me of an issue I had with some kids once. I feel like getting you some sumo suits and letting you sort it out on the big spongy mattresses like I did with them. I have said my bit on this before, and really don't want to go through it all again, so please refrain from bringing up the subject.
Warning given.

No worries! Like I said it was just a joke that was taken the wrong way! As far as I'm concerned it's over with! :)

Abbreviations are my pet hate.
To an extent I can understand their use in text messages (wanting to keep message length down due to cost of sending messages - though don't most networks provide a good amount of free messages in contracts? Anyway).
But in emails and forum boards?
No need for abbreviations. Write like an adult and use words. I don't understand most of them either and I have no inclination to learn them - why should it be up to me to dumb myself down and not the other party to lift themselves up?
As for LOL...It's the text equivalent of an exclamation mark - used to make unfunny things appear funny!
I notice the forum has a preference for making thread titles more descriptive, for sake of clarity, presumably. Maybe the same suggestion should be made on abbreviations.
TTFN - lol!

Without abbreviations and acronyms my life would be a tad harder and First Aid/Medical stuff be alot harder to remember when it comes to vital exams - they have their place
Matt - stop poking the fire ;)

I tend to agree with this, but I use apostrophes in text messages so maybe I am just a Dinosaur. :D
