hello,
Thanks for sharing. The Straw can also be used as a waggler type float ends sealed with additional float rubbers, the small safety pins can be cut & shaped for fishing hooks (tried & tested) similar myself. IMHO I would keep the kit intact for emergency situations, great that you were supplied with spares for prep & practice.

Hi david, great idea's. Im keeping the bracelet intact and use the spare bits to practice with. The temptation to make my own bracelet with them is there but its pointless, so definitely going to practice with bits. In nottingham theres pretty much no bushcraft meets or anything or I would take the bits with me and do a comp and they'd be the prize.

hello,
That's the ticket. I wouldn't fancy trying to insert once used the fishing line back into the drinking straw  (joking) I carry a length of plastic tubing aka 'syphon' can be used for hard to reach places drinking water or for syphoning fuel etc.. cut to size or as per length, rolled it fits in my Survival Pouch no problem. I've got a few lengths of cord bracelet wrapped round each of my survival tins, 1 as a pocket knife lanyard & a 50m length of Paracord 550 wrapped & plastic heat shrink sealed spare in my grab bag kit. Keep us posted on your bracelet use.
Regards
David

Yeah I wouldnt like drinking from the straw after using the fishing line and pop it back in :) great idea with your tubing, and im recently looking at getting some form of grab bag sorted out. Just hard to know were to start. I have mess tins and loads of candles (incase of power cut) and things like that but its all over the house so ive got get it all together. Just so many diffrent ideas its hard to know were to start.

hello,
'The Grab Bag' We were using such since the very early 1980's (actually pre dates 1980's) then the word 'allegedly' became popular after it was mentioned within the book 'Bravo 2 Zero' It's just a small day sac carried along with your main load, which contained 'personalised' essential kit used along with your belt order, 24 hour rations, ammunition etc.. was used when your main Bergan was either ditched or cached on Active Service or Exercise. I'd suggest start with a 24 Ration Pack which contains high calorific value snacks e.g. chocolate, etc.. you could put one of these together within a Tupperware Box with tight sealing lid or packed into a mess tin within a plastic bag wrapped water tight, Basic First Aid Kit, brew kit, 'race spoon' aka Spork the remainder is entirely up to you, also you could include your survival adventure bracelet.. pocket knife of sorts & P-38 folding Bite Blade can opener (very useful), I also included a Survival Bag & a large 500 gauge plastic folded sheet for a tarp, make sure that each item has a multi use & you have knowledge of it's use. These are purely suggestions off the top of my head they don't necessarily have to be the contents, everyone's different. Hopefully of some use.

Hi david, thanks for the idea's. It sounds like you have a good level of experience with preparedness. I do have items that I have on me whenever I leave the house (I made a video covering it on youtube) but as I say, with the way the worlds going (government and naturally) Im starting to think "prepping" is the way to go. I was brought up with "prepper" parents as in the way of always stocking the shelfs up with tinned food and candles in etc so I guess its already there I just got to crack on with it ha ha not sure the wife would understand but when we were threatened with the big storm last monday she was greatful that I had stuff in the house because she heard about powercuts and things like that. Your set up sound really good, well thought through.
