What a, frankly, blimmin' marvellous time of year it is. And what a great day - that late Autumn chill, a clear bue sky, the leaves the colour of molten steel, green fields, the solitary plucky song of a robin.
Ahh...
I went for a walk today up on the North Downs, where I live.
I'm not going to offer any narration, I am going to let the pictures tell the story of home and how I am lucky enough to live in the best place in the world. And I expect you are too.
So, come on, let's share images of the great places where we live.
Here's mine:

Aye, welcome to the Pennines.....hence having a slack handful of SAR teams....they dont call it the Dark Peak for nothing........The Pennine Way crosses over that hill which is 5 mins drive from my house and about 30 mins walk :) Oh and yes we have already had our first flurries of snow this week

These photos were taken mostly back in the warm days of summer.

I live on my boat on a river which flows in a valley below the South Downs and empties into the sea a mile or so away. I can walk up onto the Downs in 20 minutes or so, or be on the beach in about the same time.

My boat in the yard getting her yearly makeover..;) I have to fill the fresh water tanks from ashore, but all the limited power I need comes from the wind generator and solar panel and heat from the charcoal stove.. I like it that way.

Looking North up the valley and South to where the Downland meets the sea.

Few people actually live on the Downs here, on a dark night the lights of the the isolated farms are the only sign of life.

I like the silence and peace of the river, but on a wild night when the wind is in the Southwest I can hear the the sea on the shore.

http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk136/highandry_photos/002-4.jpg (http://s279.photobucket.com/user/highandry_photos/media/002-4.jpg.html) http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk136/highandry_photos/001.jpg (http://s279.photobucket.com/user/highandry_photos/media/001.jpg.html)

There's always been life on the river, and entertainment is never missing..:)

http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk136/highandry_photos/024.jpg (http://s279.photobucket.com/user/highandry_photos/media/024.jpg.html) http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk136/highandry_photos/foxytracks012.jpg (http://s279.photobucket.com/user/highandry_photos/media/foxytracks012.jpg.html)

The river is no longer used commercially but in times past the Saxon longships ran up on the tides and the valley was conquered and settled.
After the Missionaries came, the Saxons built their little churches which are still used today, while up on the slope of the Downs the old Gods still look down on those of us who follow a different path..:) I am happy here.

I live in Exmouth. I'm surrounded by beautiful countryside. But I've not been out much this Autumn because I was in Scotland, so here's one local photo from earlier in the year.

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-DkrnE5kyXZ0/UauSJxwsFVI/AAAAAAAAJbw/wNE-uJyb7c8/w1086-h612-no/Birthday+Picnic+-+2

And of course we have Dartmoor just up the road, so we go there quite a bit (in all seasons):

And just because it's the most recent, here are a few from my wet and wonderful Scotland trip:

Even the dead twigs hanging in the trees were wet making fire starting a tricky business at times.
