As some of you may have seen I'v been doing a bit of wood carving.10781I'v got a few wood carving chisels a Mora and a fexicut knife,I needed another1or2 carving knive a profiler and a chip cutter,but they are so expensive.Thought I'd make my own,I now Aldi's where selling saw blades,10782

Anyway got some and made 3 carving knives like my flexicut one 1078410783

That's genius! Seen it done so many times before but kept forgetting it. :zombie-fighting: I have loads of those blades kicking around from a saw I bought ages ago, and been wanting a small carving knife for a while, so this looks like my next personal project.

Nice one Tony.. I have some here I keep meaning to turn into spoon knives. Many of my knives are from old saw blades :0)
nice one, best tools are home made ones, i swear by my home made blades

How do you set the blades in the handles?

Do you just cut a slot in the handle then? or do you have a way of putting a slot in the middle?

Do you just cut a slot in the handle then? or do you have a way of putting a slot in the middle?..No I drill a 1/4in hole in the middle of a 6in peace of wood then put the tang and epoxy in that and let it go hard,then shape the handle.

well, just come across this, I was going to ask if anyone had used those type of blades to do wood carving knives before.
just trying a bit of whittling at the moment on the path towards carving anything larger. 48 and trying something new, might be hope for me yet!!!
