As I don't know what a barrel knife is I'm afraid I can't help you. Perhaps you could enlighten me and maybe others??

...mostly Swedish, but German and Italian makers too. Very hard to come by apparently.

Nice knives but would they be legal in the UK?

They could be construed as a concealed weapon much like the old walking stick swords which are definately illegal. They may also fall foul of the crazy UK laws in that the blade seems to fold and lock open when in use, (judging by the pictures you linked to).

I've not seen these knives before but it might be worth checking with Mr Plod before laying out any cash!

i believe the barel knife is legal as the barrel locking idea isnt covered by uk law,the blade length is still an issue, and its not a concealed or diguised weapon as it clearly a knife and not meant to be anything other than one,and as long as your not carrying it in a public place its none of the polices business what ever the sods say.

I'll not be letting Mr Plod rule my freedom of choice! Besides, I have good reason (hoodie protection device). ;)

Got a response from a custom Swedish maker:

Hello Mr Fletcher

you have come to the right place.
I produce high-quality, handcrafted Barrelknives.
But unfortunately I have no knife available now.

But I have already started to make new knives, that will reduced the waiting time.
If you are interested you can pickout one.

All the knives are:
equipped with fittings made of sterling silver,
the liners are stainless steel (that's not exactly the truth, I have already made some of brass)
and the locking spring is titanium.

The blade is either made of stainless, powder-damask from Damasteel company
or made of 12 C 27 from Sandvick company .
Most of the blades which I have already made are decorated with a file work.

As a handle material I have prepared some stabilized woods and also a few natural woods.

Price range is between 390 € and 470 €. depending on type and effort.
The amount must be on my account before shipment .

If you still have any further questions, I am happy to provide

Thank you for your interest and best regards from Sweden

Alfred

......I am interested....but I'm going to have to save up and/or dump my girlfriend to buy one. :ashamed:

I know. Beautiful aren't they? I need one badly. I am actually suffering from 'Pre-Acquisition Withdrawal Syndrome' (PAWS), and I'm starting to shake.

Thanks. I've started to calm down a bit as I'm engaged in some Kelly Kettle inner wall cleaning therapy.

I've said this before chaps, but if you try and bid on any knife on ebay (regardless which international ebay it it is), you'll get:

Attention Buyer

Dear Buyer

To prevent the circumvention of the eBay.co.uk and eBay.ie Weapon and Knives policy, it is not possible for you to bid on, or buy this item.

Thank you for your understanding.

eBay Trust & Safety

It's a pity, but these are our stupid knife laws.

Like I need it or something.

My wallet has just filed for divorce citing 'irreconcilable differences'.

Thanks a lot! ;)
