I'm recently retired, looking to enjoy my hard earned retirement experiencing the great outdoors. Something I've not really had the chance to do up until now. No expeditions to frozen wastes or scorching deserts for me though, I'm in my 60's and would like at least some creature comforts.

Hello and welcome. Until very recently I too lived in Kent. The forum members near where I used to reside are undoubtedly in hibernation and are likely to stir sometime around Easter. At which point as Tony correctly mentions in his post, they will appear as a bushcraft meet near you for sustenance and frivolity.
Cheers,
M@
