These three fungi look like a massive mushroom to me, but I have no idea what it is so I stayed well away from it. Does anyone know what it is?

I know the photos aren't great; I was in a little bit of a hurry to get back to work.

Thanks Bushwhacker!

Wow, they're edible (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coprinus_comatus). I don't think I'll be trying them though. They are big though, would make a decent part of a meal.

I won't eat them because there's usually cider in my system. When they start to turn, you can use the ink as .......ummm....... ink! It stains pretty well.

Shaggys are good eating but need to be eaten quickly after picking as they degrade to ink quickly
Also they are not one of the ink caps that react with alcohol, coprine, the chemical found in common ink caps has not been recorded in high enough quantities in Coprinus comatus (lawyers wig )

He means eaten soon after collecting/harvesting. Wikipedia says

When young it is an excellent edible mushroom provided that it is eaten soon after being collected (it keeps very badly because of the autodigestion of its gills and cap). If long-term storage is desired, microwaving, sauteing or simmering until limp will allow the mushrooms to be stored in a refrigerator for several days or frozen. Processing must be done whether for eating or storage within four to six hours of harvest to prevent undesirable changes to the mushroom.
