They were introduced onto one of the islands of Loch Lomond in the 1930's and bred ever since. sadly, I believe the last of them were shot a couple of years ago.

Yes indeed. In an area called the Roches near Leek. I was up there a couple of weeks ago.

dunno about tasting like rabbit but they can do the same damage but tenfold.
they are lovely to see and watch but when you have up to 20 sat in your garden munching away you got a bit of a problem,also when they come into the fields at night they drop a lot of ticks,one farm i know has race horses,they lost one to lymes disease a couple of year ago and one has it now,like most animals in an un-natural enviroment ie farmland if a balance isent kept it throws everything out of kilter...atb kev
