Really? From our forum spammers or from genuine members? If you forward the offending PM's to any of the moderating team, we can ban them immediately.

Its not that you have alerts on so you get an email when someone responds to a thread you have posted in is it?

This is the case, but it still sends mail even when I turn the alerts off.

It's the 'Reply to thread' containing the spam entries. see below too Martin. I don't want to turn off the alerts, but when a spam attack is in progress, the inbox is full of 'try this porn' type mail content. Not much of a problem for me at home, but you can see this being serious if someone's at work. :)

That's a bit of a 'mare mate. Until the Spam side of life is under control, there's no a lot we can do from this end, currently we are trying to catch spammers before they even get a chance to post. Our latest user hasn't posted yet and will never be able to as he is a spammer and he was banned before he could get a post in.
Ash could ban an IP block, but that would also mean banning legitimate users as well. Ash is taking this very seriously, but it's not that simple to fix.

Would you do us a favour please.
Would you mind switching off the automatic subscription to threads please, this is so we can find out whether the bug is within this part of the software.

@Fletching just to let you know I am aware of your problem (brought to my attention quickly by leon-1). It's on my list of things to look into (I've got to check whether your still receiving email notifications after you have turned thread-subscription off).
Also I have seen some of this spam with a adult nature; I am taking this very seriously however I'm limited on time, I plan to set restrictions in place that will filter any explicit posts stopping them from getting on the forum, again this will take time to research & implement but I will be doing it.
I apologise for the nusense but please bear with us and support us whilst this forum is still young, be assured I will incorporate lots of security and anti-spam features over time, it's just getting the time that's the issue at the moment. Thanks for your support,

It's been a week since the last post in this thread. I'm guessing things are much better on the spam front?
I know Ashley and Ryan have been beavering away in the background, implementing various fixes. I have been having fun trying to spot spam accounts in the member list. I managed to zap 50 of the buggers yesterday. :)
