Hi Dudes & Dudetts,

I just bought a Condor Pack Golok (60.00), I was looking for a backpacking 'one size fits all' multi tool.

I have seen 'Survival Tool & Companion' but the price is steep, I am aware of various axes & tomahawks, etc. Unfortunately for me I am very hazardous when I have a tool like that in my hands.

Ooops, is that MY finger?

Well to my review to those who may be interested.

I just spent 4 hours out my back garden.

my initial thought was that the knife was heavy and large in my hand. To my surprise when I was using it I was unaware that it was in my hand; as to the weight, it is lighter than most axes.

I gave the blade a good testing (slicing, carving, feather sticks, splitting branches, splitting logs, felling 6" trunks, sever battoning, battoning through knots ((and the list goes on)).

The blade was as pleasure to use, easy to grip in the wet and when I finished my assault, the Golok still sliced through pa paper like a 'light-saber'.

I give this tool 10/10.

By the way the leather sheath is of fantastic quality & strength...

Keep on bushing,

Sartacus

I do love machetes. I prefer a machete over an axe any day, unless im doing a semi-permanent shelter. Which i don't.
Thanks for posting this.

I've always found the condor brand dull and unwieldy, had 3 or 4 different ones before I gave up on them, wouldn't go near them now.

I have a couple of golocks 1 from Burma and the one issued to SF I also have the issued machete (tree basher) but at present I am using the Ontario camp knife which is shorter than the American issue machete, it is a good blade and easy to sharpen with a small wet stone I also carry a small flat chainsaw file with it just in case I do damage the blade.

I use one of these every day when coppicing, always have done. I prefer them to a Billhook. My present one is 6 years old and still shows no sign of wanting to give up :)
