GSI Outdoors Stainless steel tea kettle

Just ordered this baby. Been drooling over it for a long time, and had my fingers poised over the "Buy now" button many times, but never clicked it.
Reasons not to: Got a shelf full of camping kettles kettles and pots. And the pot I will still use most after buying this one is my beloved Eagle Products kettle ( the one made famous by Ray Mears).

That one is perfect for boiling water. Sadly that is the only thing its very good at. I'd like to have one cooking container that can do everything from tea to porridge, stews and soups.
And for that the Eagle kettle is too cumbersome to clean with it's microscopic lid. And I have the smallest verson of it (0,6 litres). Too small.

I could of course use my 12cm Zebra billy for that, but I got to many thumbs. I want one with a pouring spout. And the GSI tea kettle seem to be the thing. Basically its a 1 litre billy with a spout! Also the Eagle kettle is just so tiny on the Optimus III, I needed something grown up to plonk on top of that :-)

I would leave it where it is Rune and just drop a little note in the other thread. It won't move into another thread within the same topic area by the looks of it. This is a pretty good topic in it's own right anyhow.

I know what you mean about having a 'one pot for all occasions', that's what I like about the MSR Titan. If I am staying put somewhere then the fantastic Eagle kettle you gifted comes out and I will take my very little frying pan that many find so amusing. The downside with the Titan is that I have on rare occasions wished for just a little extra capacity, but I can live with it.

Yeah, it relates to food, and food is always a good topic :-)

Glad you are using the Eagle kettle. I love mine to bits. I have nothing that will boil me a cuppa quicker than that, and it's small enough to fit in my little bag too, and for those reasons I will continue to
use it as my day trip kettle, if I am not going to cook something. And if I am...well, having your tea ready at the same time as your meal ain't bad thing, lol.

Another thing s that I hope the GSI will nest inside my existing family sized cook set, to replace the aluminium kettle that resides there too....but then those alu pots and pans will have to go one day too...
But they are only used once or twice a year...and as they say. It's not what you eat between X-mass and new year that you have to worry about. It's what you eat between New Year and X-mass that counts!

My frying pan is also eagle products. I's just perfect fro those nice little charr we get in the lakes around here :-)
