what do we know about night vision? where we live its proper dark as in very little light pollution and as much as I would love goggles to replace my head torch. I am more struggling with hunting with the fx verminator with the short days and a working life. I am only using it up to 45yards but I am concerned about the zoom of a night scope and of course the prices

Stating the obvious, but most NV gear really does follow the rule that you get what you pay for. If you need to identify something, some of the cheapo kit will just give you a green blob and you'll find out you've potted next door neighbours Moggy instead of Bunnykins...;)

Currently I use a led lenser P7 with a remote on off switch on a scope mount. I have used NVG and other IR/TI but they were thousand pound plus bits of kit.

here's my attempt from last year, homemade night vision, total cost was £52, I've since added a infra red laser at £25, it's clear as day shooting rabbits out to around 80yds, wouldn't want any further as Im too lazy to walk further to pick up, I normally shoot from the car, saying that it's the wife that normally goes and picks up for me:D

I watched the Hail Bop comet through a CWS while on exercise but use a scope mounted lamp from Ronnie Sunshines for shooting with. As Sapper says £1k+ for decent optics...beyond most budgets I think.
