I'v just received from a well none auction site (e-b) this little burner,it was £4-71 with postage took about 3weeks to get here.Tryed it first with a crusader type mug with aprox 50cl of water without lid, took just under 4min,themthe same amount of water in one of my billy'es with lid on,took aprox 3min to rolling boil.I thought this was quite good for a quick cupper.11104111051110611107The item No on eb-y is150718388666.

I got exactly the same little burner, and I like it a lot too. The arms are a bit flimsy, so not for heavier pots. But for a small tea kettle or cantten mug they are good enough :-)

That one has been with me on every overnighter I have had.
Once I crawl out of the hammock in the morning I am not open for any bushcraft. I just wan't to get something warm down my neck. So no flint and steel fidling.
Just fire by a the press of a button, and hot brew in a mug 3 minutes later :-)

It ads to the need when last time I was on a winter hang, the nice fire I had going, as well as my wood, was under half a meter of snow when I woke up, lol
Then it's nice to just press a button and get a brew going while you try to sort yourself and your kit out...

Got 2 of them a couple of years ago 1 without the piezo igniter, both great stoves although the piezo unit has packed up. Also use an adaptor so I can use the cheap £1 cans of gas with them http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Outdoor-Cooking-Supplies-Camping-Stove-Gas-Bottle-Adaptor-Nozzle-Transfer-Head-/360841408257?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item5403d2ef01 it also makes the stove more stable as it has a lower profile.

Thanks a bunch. That will save me a bunch. The standard gas box is 5£ here in Norway, the cheap one is 1,4£, and has the same ammount of gas in it!

Sorry It wont save you too much Rune as on the 22/2/14 at the same time as the festival of Jolablot, Ragnarok is going to occur so I wouldnt get too excited, LOL. Ken That is if you believe in the old Norse religion !

Jolablot is never mentioned in any of the sources. You may think of Thorriblot wich in Norway traditionally takes place on Hokunottr, mid winters night on the night betwwen 12th and 13th of january.
In modern Icelandic tradition the Thorriblot is held in February...

But that is a giant de-railing of the discussion.

I ordered one of these little burners a couple of weeks ago and it arrived this morning. I bought it from the company link mentioned previously.

These little burners are seriously cheap and are a good bit of kit. I tried it out and a tin mug had a rolling boil within a few minutes. Even if it only lasts a few months, it will have been well worth its money.

If you are looking for a small, lightweight burner for a brewkit, buy one, you won't be dissapointed.

Butane performs very badly in cooler weather, in fact it stops working at around +5c so consider it very much a summer fuel option.

I had that problem at a local meet before last Christmas. The camp chip pan was working fine for the first ten minutes. After that it was useless.

The triple fuel cans perform best butane/propane/isobutane mix. I have a couple of small micro stoves and they are great for a quick brew but prefer a 'remote canister' stove where fuel is fed down a line to the burner. If the burner has a pre-heater coil you can invert the gas can (turn upside down) which really boosts performance in really cold weather.

If you have a butane burner with a flexible pipe between the fuel canister and the burner, it helps a lot to turn the fuel canister upside down in cold weeather.

I bought one of these early last year.

I wanted a pocket rocket, but being a tight as a ducks backside, I found this. Came form China in no time as was £20 cheaper.

It's my go-to piece of cook kit, if I'm doing a day hike and want a "quick" brew/food.

This + a small gas bottle fits straight into my Stanley pot. Awesome. Love it. Bargain. Cheap. Sturdy. Need I say more!

For those who need/want it: the link (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150718388666).

What fuel does it use?

Now you've got me going... I like the look of the windbreak (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/360715514058).

See post #20

Yours has the pre heater tube around the burner I mentioned but cold butane is still a dud in cold weather, stick to the tri mix fuel I mentioned and as shown in your photo.

No pre heater tube and inverting the canister = big flare ups, just not worth messing about with. For real cold weather camping my 'stovie' friends in Scandanavia/Canada/Arctic use liquid fuel stoves.

There hare burners like these with no pre-heater tube?

Never seen that.
I assumed all of them did have one. Well, anyway this is a multi-fuel burner. It's not mine but I have a similar one. It can burn kerosene, coleman fuel (white gas) and parafine.
I am scandinavian and yes, in winter we do prefer pressurized parafine or coleman fuel for our stoves. But if you do have the pre-heaiting tube and you are cought in the cold, try the up-side down trick.

Can't do that with those cheap burners that you attach direct on top of the cansisters. But those are excellent for their range of use. One just have to know their limitations.

I have one of these, and I find the arms don't support much weight, but for the same price (give or take a penny), I got one that's designed more like the MSR Pocket Rocket, which I use every week without fail.

Dad take's it to Motocross with him, makes cups of tea all day, it uses hardly any gas and boils a litre up in no time!

Back a couple years ago, I picked up 10 of the type show in your pic, from ebay for £18!!! Sold 9 of them on a car boot and made a little dosh :P haha - unfortunately, the people in China on eBay have clicked and realise they can charge almost as much as the English sellers now, because of the improvements in Air Mail!

Wen't to Biltema this morning and found they had the cheap cans of gas. The regular gas boxes are around 5£ here, and the cheap ones are 1.40£. So picked one up and went straight for Ebay and ordered one of those gas bottle adaptor stands + one adaptor for my goSystemes flexi fuel. So this will save me a bunch of money and make using gas affordable for me.

The goSystems flexi fuel is the devil himself when using liquid fuels like gasoline or paraffine. But on gas it's like an angel...so this will help a lot.

The beauty of it is Rune, the money you saved for your first gas can all but pays for the adapter, after that your quids in. ATB Ken
